A little bit apprehensive. Tests have shown that I have got a tumour in/on the nerve behind my knee. It needs to be removed and I've got to see a specialist in London about it tomorrow morning to discuss what is involved. The specialist down here has said that they are almost always benign, but in my position you can't help thinking that 'almost always benign' and 'not always benign' mean exactly the same thing.

I don't expect I'll get much sleep tonight.

Only just saw this, hope everything went well. :thumbs_up

I think it did. After a lot of waiting and a lot of prodding, the specialist announced that I needed a 3-day stay in hospital fairly soon.

They seemed more concerned with my foot than my knee yesterday and once they had satisfied themselves that I had no loss of sensation or movement in it, that seemed enough for them to be satisfied that the lump in my knee is nothing to be over-concerned about. Although they will send it away for examination once they have got it out, there is apparently nothing to indicate that it is anything other than a harmless growth - and that getting rid of it will be the end of the matter and the end of the pain that it has been causing me. All I have to do now is wait for an admission date.

Thanks to all for your messages of support here and in PMs and texts; they are all very much appreciated. And a word of advice to you all (though perhaps not to Cate, Lee or Siouxsie) - if you ever get referred to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, try to get listed for Kate Brown's clinic. She has very soft hands...

Just caught up with this Bob. Glad it all went well for you. You do need to be careful regarding the secondary swelling caused by Ms Brown though. :icon_bigg

Upset, shaking and sick.... one of those car transporter lorries has very nearly just smashed into me and then he decides to wind his window down and start screaming at me when he was in the wrong :icon_cry:

Amused by the converstaion i had with my son. He arranged to meet a bloke through a fellow band member with a view to playing some gigs locally. After returning from the 1852 in wigston i asked him how it went. " Not sure" he replied. "He's a bit old and tells really crap jokes" he added. " Worse than mine" I asked ." Yeah much worse. He told a really shit one about 8 legs of venison being too dear"
