For me it should be:

Jakupovic

Simpson
Huth (if fit enough if not, Fuchs)
Dragovic
Chilwell

Gray
Iborra
Ndidi
Albrighton

Slimani
Iheanacho

Enough to put up some kind of resistance but keeping people like Wes nowhere near the squad - he can't manage too many games in a row now.

I've read that Oxide-Chaimberlain will be playing for Liverpool, if he's not too rusty.

CS has already said that neither of these will play. Neither will Matty James and Vardy is doubtful. Josh Knight and Hamza Choudhury are likely to get an outing.

I'd like to see Choudhury play. It sounds like he's coming on nicely.

Not based on his performance for the U23s last week that was shown on the club website. He was awful, vacating his position constantly and terrible decision making with his passing. Looked miles off the required standard to me.

As is usual on these occasions, I'll recycle my usual mantra for a game such as this. Pick the team for Saturday and then make as many changes for this game as possible. Nonsensical to do otherwise. Liverpool certainly will.

Hamer, Knight, Benny, Amartey, Chilwell, Gray, Iborra, King, Musa, Slimani, Okazaki

Beaglehole said he was outstanding for the U23s against Arsenal (the best player on the park) and he has clearly been doing alright in other games... https://www.premierleague.com/news/464486

Ive got a weekly NOW TV pass so will be watching this. Unlikely to be a fabulous event but at least I'll get to see poor old Musa being deployed on the wing again for no apparent ****ing reason. I actually do genuinely feel for him.

Very difficult to guess the outcome of this sort of game because the likely selection of both sides is a bit random.

I think that if we fielded our strongest available side then we would have more chance of winning tonight than in Saturday's league fixture - and at this stage a win is a win and is important. Difficulty is that we are very short of good midfielders - and this weakness costing us.

There is not a chance that CS will pick what most people would recognise as a strong team - and I'm afraid two bad results against Liverpool will hasten the crisis that will lead to his departure.

Maybe, however, if we win both, will it strengthen his position?
Not in some quarters I feel :(
If we win both it would kick-start the season and lift everyone.
Sadly, can't see much chance of two wins. Liverpool and their manager have their own problems and I'm afraid we are going to get the backlash.

I would like to see the young boy from Coventry given a chance he has played quite a bit of league and has experienced of cup football

Knight and Choudhury will both feature in tonight's squad.

Hope we put out a strong but experimental side, I sugest the following,
but leaving the formation up to Craig Shakespear.
That sounds risky, you sure he can handle it?

Then tweak it for the league match.

Schmeikel
Simpson
Maguire
Dragovic
Fuchs
Ibora
Ndidi
Mahrez
Silva or Okazki
Ihenacho
Vardy

subs to include

Musa
Amarty
Chilwell
Huth if fit
One for the TB historians. Is this the first time we've had five current City players' names misspelled in one post?
