Tony Springett sounds like a player from the 80's.

Ron Springett was a goalie in the 50s and 60s.
Peter Springett was a goalie in the 60s and 70s.
They were brothers and were actually swapped between Sheffield Wednesday and QPR about 1967; I can't remember which one went which way. One of them was on the losing side when Wednesday lost to Everton in the 66 FA Cup final; the other was on the winning side in the League Cup final the following year when QPR beat West Brom (they also won the third division title the same year).
For 'local interest', one of them was the England keeper but lost his place to Gordon Banks just before the 66 World Cup; the other was in the QPR side that beat Leicester 4-2 on their way to that League Cup glory mentioned above - remember they were a third division team - I was gutted!
Still can't remember which was which. Funny the crap I remember and the important things I forget.
