Another dismal bowling performance in the CB40 today. 304/3 by the Dutch

My first ever post I have had a look at this forum and followed 'County' for years, but enough is enough! Buck and Wyatt are rubbish, expensive and never take wickets (well on average 1 wicket per game) Cobb first change is a joke - he is a number 6 bowler, why didn't Thornley bowl and why no Malik or Kadeer Ali. Du Toit and Smith are rubbish at 40 over cricket - well actually Du Toit is rubbish at all forms and is the second poor specialist batsman in recent decades to ever play a signicant amount of games for Leicestershire behind Russell Cobb.

Hoggard and Daggers on the commentary were saying how good the Dutch batting was, and didn't criticise the bowlers. But that's not a surprise.

The Mockery's Paul Jones on Twitter said "Foxes bowling is leaving a little to be desired".

The abysmal state of the club was masked last season by the remarkable T20 triumph. Unfortunately its unlikely that there will be such an occurrence this season. Possibly it needs to reach the pits before there can be improvement.

If the bowling in the CB40 is anything to go by, the T20 campaign is going to be a disaster.

My observation after the last few seasons have been that we have a decent spin attack but the younger pace bowlers have been constantly over-egged by the club and local media. Buck seems to have lost all form and we can only hope that is temporary. Gurney was under used and as a left armer offered valuable variety - not surprisingly he cleared off which is what our talented youngsters tend to do when given the opportunity.

Five or six years ago the Kolpak route was useful and we effectively had a South Africa B or C side - that was stopped. by the authorities. A couple of years ago we had the story that we had a group of really talented young players that was going to form the basis for the future. In reality only Taylor was that good with Cobb and Buck potentially useful. Its difficult to see a clear way forward. If possible i think they should save money on the deadwood - both playing and coaching/ fitmess staff and try to earmark resources to bring in experienced better players. Presumably this will be Hoggard's last season - and his salary looked disproportionate even taken ac count that he is still a valuable opening bowler.
