Barnet have re-appointed Martin Allen as manager of the League Two strugglers until the end of the season.

The 45-year-old last managed the Bees eight years ago when they were a Conference side.

Barnet lie second from bottom after Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat by Aldershot, with eight games remaining.

Chairman Tony Kleanthous told the club website: "We will support Martin in his efforts to turn things around and bring in any new players."

More to follow.

Apparently Allen's phone has been red hot with offers..........

GONE...

to Notts County

It looked as though he was dragging Barnet out of the mire as well. It does show a distinct lack of loyalty to be jumping ship so soon, but then Notts County are a far bigger club than Barnet and have probably offered him a good pay rise. How many of us would stay put in our jobs in the face of a substantial pay rise?

Did he ever sell his house in Leicestershire?

If not and he's letting it perhaps he'll move back in!

hmmmm Martin Allen and Lee Hughes a match made in .........

The County fans must be ecstatic and looking at League 2 in the face. Bristol Rovers & Walsall at one time looked doomed and now they have a chance of escaping.

You've gotta realise Barnet dragged him off the managerial scrapheap twice and gave him a go. The second time the chairman had to bit the bullet has he had fell out with Allen after he previously left. At times like that, you show your employer some dignity and keep with them. He was free to move in the summer when other offers would come in.

Can't have impressed Barnet so much that they actually offered him a contract though? If they're happy to have him on a no-contract basis they can hardly complain.

Job security and bank balance should always override emotional ties or loyalties to your employer. Always.
