Next permanent manager

Vestergaard himself did an interview not long ago where he confirmed that Rodgers was desperate to sign him for 18 months.

It was reported by multiple legitimate sources. Here is an extract from an Athletic article:

Rodgers ignored key data analysts in the scouting department who advised Rodgers and his team against multiple signings including Vestergaard and Bertrand, but the moves were forced through anyway, leading to some of our key Data Analysts leaving the club having become "exasperated at the change in approach and felt their work and their previously trusted process were being ignored".
That’s a feckin Greek tragedy.

In the modern game the focus on recruitment should be left to people with the expertise to view data dispassionately.

Managers are too emotional & likely to be swayed toward players they've either worked with before or always wanted to. Or ones they know they have a temperament & viewpoints in common with. Or ones they think can "do a job " based on what they currently do (or previously did) in a team that plays completely differently.
A manager should identify areas of the team that need strengthening & types of players needed. The individual players then recruited should be done by those trusted to do the job.

If you're Man City, Chelsea or whoever you can let the manager have his faves as the money is there to piss away if you want to. But for clubs like us it has to be the other way. It's what we did before & we achieved miracles. We stopped doing it & we're relegated. How much more evidence do these ****ers want ?

The only route open to clubs like us is the one taken by Brighton & Brentford (& previously by US FFS !! )

We get a head coach instead of a manager. Hopefully then we won't get any more ****ing Ryan Bertrands

So BR signed two shit players in Bertrand and Vestergaard.

Last summer he started tapping up and talking to players he wanted to sign.

Ruskin(?) said no. We need a head of recruitment in place. He didn't come in til August. We had a load of overpaid crap on the wage bill we couldn't move so the club (Ruskin) made a stand. Story about no money came out as well.

In Jan we signed 2 perm players which potentially is a revert back to our young and unproven model.

“Unproven” doesn’t have to mean shite though

I think that's harsh on both Souttar and Kristiansen.

I think for two young players coming into the Prem for the first time, then finding themselves in a relegation battle, was tough.

But they're two of the only players I'm looking forward to seeing next season as I think they will both come on well in the Championship and can be future Prem players hopefully (Souttar especially, and he should've kept his place over Faes)

Souttar was an excellent buy. Why he was on the bench under Smith, only that useless duffer could tell us. Kristiansen started brilliantly. Unfortunately, he was then Rodgered senseless and had to try and defend with nothing but shit around him.

I think they'll both be fantastic players for us and, importantly, they both seem to give half a shit.

they both seem to give half a shit.
yes, that's going to be a big factor to us going back up. Hopefully, the upcoming player churn (and the absence of rugs being pulled by sulking managers) will create a new atmosphere within the squad. It would be great to see less 'going through the motions' and lots more actual 'giving a shit' (at the risk of over extending a somewhat unpleasant metaphor)

Based on what we’ve seen, they are both clearly Championship level players - should be fine

UCL Final?

Played in Belgium mainly but also three full seasons in the Championship with Stoke and WBA including winning the Championship with WBA in 07-08 when we got relegated to League 1.

Took over Club Brugges in July 2022 only to have his contract terminated in December 2022.

Played 27, won 15, drawn 6, lost 6.
