We shall soon find out if he's finishised.....as opposed to nearly finished.

I assume that the intent is to mainly use him as a sub that makes a difference. He will certainly be a different sort of player - tho' I'm not sure that not doing enough to convince the mighty Colchester that he is worth a contract is an entirely positive indicator.

Always liked the bloke, as a player and a person. He could also play the post horn gallop before the other players come out, which is a bonus Nige has obviously considered

Me and my 2 mates had season tickets up to about 4 or 5 years ago when Newcastle came to play. Sat next to me each week, on his own, was a moron who always came in to the ground at dead on 3pm totally drunk. His 4 or 5 mates, including his brother apparently, sat on the next row down, several seats away.

I put up with his inane, nauseating behaviour for quite a few games until he screamed at Solano (who came to take a corner) "f*ck off you black C*nt".

I shouted to the stewards to get the moron ejected which they eventually did. I discovered he was subsequently banned for 3 games.

For the rest of the game we received menacing looks from his mates. At the end of the game they and many others made it clear I was considered out of order for getting him expelled. We felt threatened and intimidated so subsequently got the ticket office to relocate us to another part of the ground. At the end of the season we did not renew as the incident just made us feel sickened by the behaviour of a group of imbeciles who still think shouting racist foul mouthed abuse is ok.

I shudder to think of the abuse Solano will receive if he makes the slightest mistake in a game.....

What affected us the most, was not so much the racism but the fact that so many people thought it wasn't a problem and that I was in the wrong for doing something about it.

Just been looking on Wiki and didn't realise how many goals he has scored in English Football - 57 in 313 appearances
Also he has been capped 88 times for Peru and scored 20 goals

He's already scored 10 this season in 32 appearances for Club Universitario de Deportes (known as Universitario) who are the most successful football club in Peru who have a 80,000 capacity

In his 2nd spell injuries caused Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder to play Solano at right-back instead of his usual right-wing position. However it was not an unfamiliar playing position to Solano, as he started his football career in defence and had featured at right-back for his country
Neilson has more competition for his place in the team
He came second only to Thierry Henry in assists for the 2000–01 season.[20] He is also a dead ball specialist, having scored several memorable long range freekicks.
Someone who can take a decent free-kick at last (he takes a good corner too if I remember)

His first goal for West Ham was a free-kick and the fifth goal in West Ham's 5–0 away win against Derby County on 10 November 2007

He made his debut (for Aston Villa) in a 5–0 win over Leicester City, :icon_eek:becoming their top scorer for the 2004–05 season
Scoring his 1st goal in a 5-0 victory would be nice :icon_bigg

he scored a crucial penalty for Universitario against Alianza Lima in the play-off for the Peruvian Primera División title, helping the team to a 2-0 aggregate victory to seal the clubs 25th league title
Scores crucial penalties so could be a threat to Matty Fryatt if he misses any more

Not sure whether we have had a Nobby before but wonder if any of our older members (well older than me) or any of our anoraks out there might know

You should speak to Highland - I think he's had a few Nobbys in his time! ;)

I think these people are sitting behind me in the Kop now, judging by the albino, banana-munching **** and slow gay tags that they have put on McGivern, Dyer and Neilson respectively this season. Thankfully the stewards have now calmed their worst excesses but last week's "How can you not be racist when he's that ****ing crap?" comment was something of a pearl.

For a club in a city which outwardly seems to have a free and easy attitude towards its ethnic minority, we do some to have a lot of knuckle-draggers amongst our support.

True but it was a popular name or nickname in the 30's - 60's

Nobby is/was the standard nickname for people called Clark or Clarke. I'm not aware of it being used however in relation to any of the half dozen players with either of these names who have played for the club.
