yo

anyone have any experiences about where is nice/horrible to live in Northants/MK

want to stay fairly near the M1 & railways lines, but am just umming an aahing at the moment

have been around MK, it seems ok, easy to get everywhere. The centre is a bit strange, but there are plenty of Barratt type estates on the west...oh and Bletchley is minging

don't really know Northants though...apart from Corby being Scottish

I hate the A14, a terrible road, have family and friends living around Kettering not overly impressed but Blaby isn't all that either.

Towcester appears a nice area, but with the race course near by, you have to have some patienece for the traffic on race days, similarly Silverstone.

Corby town centre was supposed to have been revapmed recently, if it's not still ongoing, but, it's still Corby.

Like a larger version of Beaumont Fleas

Corby is still shite - as is Kettering. Wellingborough is best avoided too.

Theres some nice bits of Northampton, but its very studenty.

little Villages around Corby and kettering are nice (sutton basset, Stoke albany, Dingly, Old, any north of northampton) and very picturesque but the bigger ones like rothwell and desborough are just corby overspill.

Daventry is nice, and Oundle is a really lovely place but very expensive

Towcester is a very nice place. Race course traffic is not too bad. Traffic for Silverstone can be a bit mad especially around the British Grand Prix, but it's easy to plan round. Schools in the area are very good, plenty of shops. MK and Northampton railway within very easy reach as is the M1 and M40. Low crime rate and plenty of nice places to live especially in the surrounding vilages.

Depends on your budget, but you could try around Newport Pagnell, Emberton, Olney, Wollaston (ie along the A509). Olney can be an awful bottleneck in rush hour though. Stony Stratford & the surrounding area is also nice. Northampton is like any town, varies from the bloody awful to the nice but I'm not a fan of the town centre. Apparently good though if you're young and enjoy a night out on the piss. Lots of nice villages around Northampton but quite pricey. Avoid Wellingborough like the plague, complete shithole. Towcester's good but a distance from train stations. If you get any specific ideas I'll be happy to pass on my opinion for what it's worth.

Daventry is a ****ing hole of gargantuan proportions filled with scummy thick chavs. In all my years I've only met one person from Dav who wasn't a total and utter ****.

In answer to the question, covering places already mentioned: Corby is shit, Wellingborough is a steaming pile of shit, Kettering itself has some nice bits but is mainly shit. Thrapston and Rushden are dreadful and I'd rather die than live in Irthlingborough.

we're on the east side, some lovely villages, woburn, woburn sands (where the current mrs mk will be teaching your child in the foundation year...), any of the brickhills (bow, little or great) and 45 mins from euston.

depends on what you want. mk is great for stuff to do, but if you want country pubs and nice villages, look a little further south, wing/soulbury/mentmore, all 35 mins from euston via leighton buzzard or cheddington.

Northampton rail does look a bit pants, thinking i might as well go Market Harborough than Northampton

anyone know if Husbands Bosworth is nice?
