So the lights haven't gone out on the promotion push just yet then?

Lost 0-3 at home to Beerschot in the first game of the 2nd half of the season. Bottom of the league.

Won 2-1 against Lokeren yesterday, and 2-1 against Westerlo last week. Top of the League!

I bring news from our OHL friends.

Not sure if anyone has been paying attention, but the whole COVID business has been causing havoc over there.

OHL were at half time in a play off to decide the promoted side to their top league. OHL lost the first leg 1-0 and then football was abandoned.

In a very odd move, the authorities there asked OHL to play their second leg this weekend and then the new season starts next weekend. So, whoever won/lost would have a few days before starting their season in whichever league they found themselves in.

In the intervening period OHL have sacked another manager and been busy updating their squad.

There have been all sorts of legal fisticuffs going on and this afternoon they announced that both teams will be immediately promoted now. The second leg goes ahead anyway but OHL are now officially a top flight side in Belgium.

This has implications for City. Sending players on loan to play the likes of Club Brugge and Anderlecht is more developmental than the second division. In addition, OHL (led by Rob McKenzie who used to be our head or recruitment) will now be busy signing players that could one day find themselves at City.

Farcical.

All a bit weird and crazy.

But great news overall. Now hopefully they can stay in the top league!

I knew Belgium had two languages. I hadn't realised that Spanish was one of them. Weird and crazy is correct.
They have three official languages, and quite a few unofficial ones (more like dialects), but no, none of them are Spanish.

First win of their season today. I think that's one win, two draws and one defeat from their opening four matches with two City players (Iverson and Sowah) in their line up regularly:

I'm watching OHL v Standard Liege

0-0 after an hour and two City players (Iversen and Sowah) playing. Decent game. Standard now down to 10 men so could be a big result on the cards.
