They fall further behind every year. Sometimes, like last season, they give their fans false hope that they can gatecrash a title race that in reality is beyond their capabilities. They're the new Liverpool.I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal finished outside the top 6 next (next? this?) season.
Since the 'Invincibles' title win in 2004: 2nd, 4th, 4th, 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 4th.When was the last time they actually finished in the top 2? 6, 7 years ago? I think they've only finished 3rd once or twice in that time as well. How people still consider them title contenders at the start of every season is beyond me.
I think getting rid of Fabregas could be the big opportunity for them. No idea why they've persisted with a wantaway for so long, let alone make him captain. The money from him, Nasri and Cliche (sp) would be enough to fill the gaps in the entire team, with only Nasri one I would miss.
Downing quoted as being worth 19 Million quid. I think he has to be the most overated player at the moment. If Arsenal pay that they are f*cked.
EDIT* as mentioned in the article in the previous post.
If Henderson is worth £20million and Andy Carroll £35million, Downing is worth £19million all day long.
Makes Ashley Young look a bargain, eh?
Oh course the answer is that none of the first 3 are worth that - but however distorted the market may be, the market is the market and the market participants will establish the going rate themselves.
To buy top end costs big bucks right now.
What have I missed?...(the) deal is subject to a successful work permit application
