Morning All

Just wondered if anybody has seen the new Bond film yet and if so is it worth going to see. :102:

was a fan of brosnan as Bond but imo the jury is still out with Craig as Bond. I'll admit i do like the darker side of bond that he seemed to portray in casino royale and wondered if this film is quite similar.

It's worth going to see, but the story isn't as good and it is nowhere near as good as Casino Royale.

I hated the first fifteen minutes, or so, of 'Solace'; it was action packed, seemingly for no other reason than to show how spectacular the film could be. By the end, this made sense and I enjoyed the overall experience.
It is slightly surreal: in both 'Casino Royale' and 'Quantum of Solace', we are being introduced to a new agent, James Bond, as if the previous 20 odd films did not exist.
At the end of 'Solace', Bond has matured to the extent that he is not just a killing machine, and has learned trust. I suspect that the next film is the one which will make, or break, this reincarnation. Bond should be back nearer to the suave intellectual that we have seen previously and, I suspect that 'Q' may be re-introduced.

I was never a mega fan of the old Bond's. They were pretty cool in their day with the gadgets and stuff but as it got on and during Pierce Brosnan's time they got a bit ridiculous in my opinion, even though I thought Brosnan made a very good Bond.

I went to watch Casino Royale out of interest and found the darker, more sinister side to Bond much more appealing. I haven't read any of the books but apparently this was more in tune to the character of the books too.

I suppose it all depends on how you want to take it. Personally I see these new Bond films as something totally different to any of the old one's and wouldn't even put them in the same category. That said I know people who are Bond freaks and think that this character change is nothing short of sacrilage (sp) and will not even recognise Daniel Craig as James Bond.

I'm going on Friday to watch it at the new Showcase in the directors hall thingy. Has anybody used that yet? Is it any good?

Agree with the previous post. Well worth going to see.

Yes the film is slightly different to previous Bond's but I'd never want a Roger Moore character back anyway. The Octopussy scene where he is being chased on a motorised rickshaw through the back streets of India, hitting people with a tennis racket a memorable low point.

Just like the old films though the bond girl (Olga Kurylenko) is hot and can't act.

Didn't really like it tbh. 6/10

Love Casino Royale as well, I think it suffers because it's clearly the 2nd film in a trilogy of Bone learning his trade. And the Bourne like chases plus a similar plot in some respects seemed like I was watching a repeat.

The scene in the Opera was quite something though.

That was the whole point, at the beginning of casino royal he only just got his 007 status. The two films are showing how Bond became the person he is.

Expect the next film to have many more gadgets and women and be a bit closer to the old bond films than these two.

For the record i didn't think much of solace. It just seemed like an hour and 40 minutes of stunts that you couldn't actually see, because the camera was so tight onto the action. Daniel Craig is brilliant as bond but he needs something more to work with than this non existant script.

I actually felt sick towards the beginning due to the weird camera work, darting all over the place. Plus I couldn't work out who was who in the fights.

Agent Fields deserves a film of her own....I must admit the google search come up with excellent results in Arterton's case. Topless scene in Three N' Out. :icon_roll

Anyone notice the first name on the credit of Agent Fields?
