If the club are prepared to seriously spend £4-5m on Maynard, plus say £15k a week on a 3yr deal, that's a potential outlay of £6.2-£7.2m.
That figure could rise substantially if we were to sign Shane Long.
I would much rather we spend £40-£50k a week on a seriously good player, such as Robbie Keane. Even with a loan fee of approx £500k-£1m plus wages, our maximum outlay is over £1m less than any fee we've been linked with and we have no long term high wage commitment.
If this is at all a possibility, I would go all out to get him.
