The guy is a feckin loon how long before we read is obituary?

Did I miss something? Did 'Get out of jail free' cards become a legitimate part of our legal system? It's the only explanation I can think of for why Pete Doherty is still a free man, unless our prisons are so full now they can't shut the door.
Week after week there's a story about Pete going to court and getting let off - it's like a doped-up version of Groundhog Day. His wrist must have been slapped so many times that he could counter-sue for RSI.
This week took the biscuit, so much so I actually had a little bit of admiration for Pete's audacity/stupidity. The Babyshambles front-man was fined just £750 plus £85 costs for walking into a court room (his second home) with 13 wraps of heroin. He actually took heroin to court, dropped it on the floor, and got away with a fine. The man's untouchable!
Explaining why Doherty had drugs in his pocket, Bruce Clark, Doherty's presumably brilliant defending lawyer, said: "He has a great many items of clothing - suits and clothes going into the hundreds. There were residual drugs which he had left in one coat pocket. He didn't necessarily choose the coat for himself." It was not "mickey taking", he added.
Ah of course, the old "I didn't dress myself" routine.
Sentencing Doherty, Judge Boparai at Gloucester Magistrates' Court, said: "I'm assured that this was simply stupidity on your part and that you didn't check your clothing and not anything more than that, and that you weren't mickey taking.
"I've also heard you are receiving treatment for your drug addiction. Because you are paying for your own treatment I don't feel it would be appropriate to take money from the public purse."
And so slippery Pete walks free again. Until next time...
