Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded summer 2018 rumours thread.

if we play a back 3 and spend £25m on a 3rd CB then great. If we dont and Maguire only starts training a week before the season then I don't expect him to look like a £65m defender in a back 4.
I love Maguire but don't believe the hype. we got owned by every good team we played in the WC. Maguire looked good but he's not suddenly Varane or Kompany.

Neither of whomwould come to Leicester City FFS, but Maguire is actually already here

We have one of the most promising English centre backs in the game and you want to dump him for a few million quid and Chris feckin Smalling FFS

It couldn't possibly be more feckin stupid

We can build a solid defence around Harry and with Maddison on set pieces we might finally be a threat up the other end from corners and free kicks as we know how much of a threat he can be in the box if the quality of delivery is there. Yes, our defence was pretty shit last season but one man alone can't do the job, let's not we also had Morgan, Simpson and an aging Fuchs in the back four.

If we could get Yerry Mina in as well, we would be the most threatening team in the Premier League when it comes to set pieces, with Maddison’s deliveries and the presence of Maguire.

Just means we’ll be even more like England!

if Maguire wants out and we could get £40m plus Chris Smalling then yes it would be good business, but that doesn't mean I'd like it, Harry Maguire should be our captain this season, keeping him sends as big a message as signing a star would send in that we mean business

its getting too close to the deadline to arrange a huge transfer, eg how long did the Mahrez deal take?? Id like to see theowners issue a "hands off statement", and Harry to issue an "im happy im staying" statement.

Maguire is a top defender - world class. Hopefully we can hold on to him for one more summer. Let's also hope he has a brilliant season and really pushes that price to £75m like V Dijk. If he has a brilliant season then that's exactly where the price is heading and he will be off. If the above happens it'll also be interesting to see our negotiation skills then.

If he goes this summer that would be pretty damn awful. We'd need to bring in a top top cb to replace him. Rumours of Gary Cahill are a load of tosh if you ask me. Well let's hope so at least. We don't need another ageing defender.

Bloody hell, you know it's silly season when Homer is the calm and reasoned one

Yerry Mina would be a great buy to compete with Harry and Evans. Another solid world class CB that offers something in the offensive sense too. Would like to see us get another CB, LB and a replacement for Mahrez but weve got a bit of deadwood that needs shifting too. A few too many CMs and forwards.

Maguire to The Sun:

“I’ve just come back from playing at a World Cup, where I really enjoyed the high pressure of the games. It was something that I really thrived off.

“Leicester have been unbelievable to me and I’m really happy there but I’m also an ambitious player and everyone wants to play at the top.”

he said something similar at the world cup "my parents and family have followed me to watch throughout my career which at the minute is at leicester".
I didn't like the choice of words at the time.

They're hardly "Come and get me" are they?

I certainly hope he plays at the top too, preferably with us but if not a massive profit on his eventual sale only helps both parties

Musa joined from CSKA Moscow in July 2016 for a then club record £16.6m and it is thought Leicester would want to recoup the majority of that outlay.

Leicester would prefer a permanent deal and the asking price is believed to be around £18m. Slimani joined Leicester from Sporting Lisbon in August 2016 for a club record £29m

So why do we need to recoup on Musa and not Slimani?

So why do we need to recoup on Musa and not Slimani?

Because it's a possibility with the former but a ridiculous proposition with the latter?

I think, judging by the comments above, that IF Utd. come in with a £60m+ offer, Maguire will be off. He has to say he's "happy" at Leicester at the moment, but he also says he wants to "play at the top" suggesting we're not able to match that ambition.

Also reading he's to be offered a "bumper" pay deal of £75k a week, which in todays world and for a player of his current standing, is not much. How much is Van Dijk on I wonder?

Doesn't bode well I'm afraid, and the last thing we need is another unsettled player agitating for a move if we try to hold on to him.

But all is not lost, Gary Cahill is waiting in the wings!
