Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded summer 2020 rumours thread

Kante for sale apparently

They'd be absolutely mad to sell Kante but he has been left out a bit so maybe they will.

Don't think they'd be insane enough to let him leave to another Prem team though - my guess is he'd be off to PSG.

But otherwise could see him at Juve if they have the money, but really I think he'd improve any team in the world.

Kante has some injury issues this season, Lampard said he couldn’t use him in the cup final as he wasn’t fit

Any club that sells Kante for anything less than silly money is crazy. The man is god.

Used correctly, he simply wins titles. Amazing that this gets missed.

In that reliable paper this morning (mirror) that we want £80 million + for Chilwell.

No thanks to Ross Barkley. Kante wouldn't come back and as much as I rate him, there seems to be abit of an injury issue there.
As for £80+ million for Chilwell. This would be like Maguire all over again. Ridiculous fee for a good English left back. If Congerton knows his onions, we should be laughing.

I'm a Chilwell fan, but if Chelsea sell Kante to help fund an £80m move for Chilwell... o_O

Of course, its only that we're demanding £80m - can't see Chelsea paying that.

Suspect they'll move on to Tagliafico or Regulion

From James Nursey who is quite reliable on City transfers.

It does appear that our position on Chilwell is clear enough; we don't want to sell and he's available only if someone is prepared to pay £80m+.

The problem we'll have with this is that Chelsea appear to have got to Chilwell and have his agent working on us lowering our demands. Simon Johnson reports reliably on Chelsea and has consistently said that it isn't as straightforward a situation as we had with Maguire - i.e. indications are that Chilwell is prepared to play up to get the move, whereas Maguire wasn't.

This leaves us in a position much more like those with Mahrez and Drinkwater than Maguire. Both these players forced their moves by making it clear that they were not prepared to play for us any longer. It also depends how much our own plans would be affected by dragging it out for months.

There also doesn't appear to be any serious competition for Chilwell, despite the odd story about Man Utd or Man City. We could do with another serious bidder to keep the price high.

Another factor could be players that Chelsea are prepared to let us have in part exchange. They need to sell on a lot of players this summer.

We will struggle to get half of what we need for Edouard from selling Iheanacho.

Now in the Guardian:

Leicester offer deal to take forward Francisco Trincão from Barcelona
  • Leicester propose two-season loan then £45m transfer
  • Trincão due to start Barça career after move from Braga

Leicester are trying to sign Francisco Trincão from Barcelona and have offered to take the forward on loan for two seasons with an obligation to buy for £45m (€50m).

The 20-year-old is one of Portugal’s most highly regarded young players and in January Barcelona secured a €31m deal with Braga under which Trincão would move to the Camp Nou this summer.

The initial joining date of 1 July was pushed back when the Portuguese season was extended because of the Covid-19 pandemic and Trincão played his final game for Braga on 27 July.

If Barcelona agree to loan and then sell him, he would leave without making an appearance, despite having a contract until June 2025 and a buyout clause of €500m. Barcelona are not minded to sell but they are desperate to raise funds and if players they want to move on, such as Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembélé, do not go they will consider a deal for Trincão.

Leicester face significant competition for the Portugal Under-21 international, who is left-footed and usually plays on the wing. Atalanta have been linked with him but it is understood the Italian club are not in the running at the moment.

Trincão scored eight goals and contributed eight assists in 27 league appearances last season for Braga, for whom he made his first-team debut in December 2018.
