Really wide open this year, I don't really know where to start, there are so many potential winners.

Scott, Day, Kuchar, Mickelson, Garcia, Rose, Stenson, McIlroy, D Johnson and quite a few more. Then you have the usual suspects such as Couples and Cabrera who always seem to be doing nothing and crop up at this time of year!

I've just got no real idea who will win. Although I would love to see Sergio win!

Got money on Sergio & Speith. Both E/W shots.Decent 1st round from both so hoping they'll kick on.I intend to back Speith in every major this season.Just have a feeling he'll grab a place at big odds in one of them.

Not sure Spieth is ready to win a major yet, he may be placed as you say. Sergio is in great form so a good shout, despite being a bit of a bottle job!

Can't believe I didn't mention Bubba Watson in my OP who I have backed myself. In sensational form as well, his last three stroke play events: 2nd, Won, 2nd.

Fancy a past Masters champion to triumph again!

Well your money's looking to be in the right place so far.Looks like I'll be relying on horses & football for a profitable weekend though :icon_conf

Looking a bit better for me now! Good job with this weekends horses turning out to be donkeys & the football accas destroyed by gutless Southampton players not bothering to turn up as they'd rather concentrate on getting a plane ticket to Brazil :-/

Long way to go though still.

I've got each way bets on Spieth and Stenson. I also had Dustin Johnson, but that didn't turn out very well!! Here's hoping for a good day today.

Well played sir! I had a curious day really.Normally if a player or team in any sport that I've got money on gets themselves in such a great position & then blows it I'll be railing against them as being a useless bastard & chucking things at the wall. But not today. With Speith 2 shots up after 7 I was obviously pleased but was thinking if there's a time for a young player to self destruct this is it.So it proved & I was completely expecting it.2 holes later & it's complete role reversal & you could just see he's mentally gone.He was never going to recover from there & I actually crossed my fingers that he wouldn't melt down completely & miss the places.Pleased that he didn't.The way you beat Watson is to reel him in from an overnight lead when he's had to sleep on it.He gets nervous first thing. But if he's leading with 9 to go you're pretty much ****ed.Sad for me but there was no crockery throwing :) Happy that my judgement was right on Speith placing in a major this year.Problem I have now though is since he's done it in the first one do I carry on backing him in the other 3? May as well I guess as even if he doesn't place again if I bet level stakes I'll still be 3 points up on him over the season.

Like you say, pleased he didn't blow up like McIlroy did. IMO before the round even started, providing nobody made a charge from the pack, there was only one winner for me and that was Bubba. He made a shaky start as you mention but once he found his feet and got past Spieth there was no stopping him. Spieth's back 9 attitude was shocking and I was surprised in his interviews how he said he was enjoying it so much. He had a face like a smacked arse for the entire back 9 when things weren't going his way!

I didn't even bother to mention my Jimenez bet given how far back he was before his Saturday 66! I thought I had better not embarrass myself!

Betting on Golf for years has taught me to almost ignore the 1st 2 rounds :) Someone always either roars in from nowhere on saturday or falls off a cliff.Often both.
