Tour de France: Yorkshire to host start of 2014 race

Leeds will host the start of the 2014 Tour de France.

The Tour heads through Yorkshire on 5 and 6 July, before moving south for a third stage, finishing in London.

I knew they were bidding for this, they've been doing stuff for quite a while now in order to get it. Good news given how much work people have put in behind the scenes.

Great news for employment as well, there'll be a lot of engineering work involved in relocating Yorkshire to France. Presumably they'll need to move it back to England again after the race is done as well?

Good news for Yorkshire. Le Tour had a massive impact down here in Kent in 2007 when one of the early stages finished in Canterbury.

Interesting to see what route they are going for around Yorkshire.

Personally think York would be a better Grand Depart than Leeds.

Here in Sheffield the 2nd stage will finish. Traffic in the area will be interestkng that day.
