WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE

He struggled big time with any pace and was caught far too often on the halfway line with or without the ball. Vestergaard did a job in the championship, I am concerned he will be slaughtered in the Premiership.
He's been that player for his entire career.
A modern back four (or 5 or 3) has to be balanced between attacking & defending. That means you need pace along with effective ball control & passing ability. Vestergaard is the pivot that provides the latter, it's up to managers, coaches & recruiters to provide the former to balance it out. Hopefully they can do that. If not, we're ****ed but it won't be Vestergaard's fault.

Bang on.

From the BBC article on Poch:

BBC Sport understands Chelsea are unlikely to go for Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca, a former assistant coach with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. A return for former managers Jose Mourinho or Thomas Tuchel is not on the cards as the club targets a young head coach.

So BBC journalism is now just about saying what won’t happen. I could do that… I understand that Leicester City won’t make a move to bring Harry Kane back to England.. and Ten Haag won’t sign a new 10 yr contract at Man Itd.

They'll probably try to nick Glasner from Palace. I may be wrong, but it still makes me braver than the BBC.

Rumours are they want someone who's more of a 'yes man' which would absolutely rule out Enzo Maresca completely. If he was to go I'd probably like to see us make a move for Graham Potter again. We're in a bit of a better position now that we've just been promoted as opposed to just about to be relegated and he's had his rest from the game. Plus fits the long term 'project builder' type of manager we like.

Please let it be Mourinho. Please!

The yes man thing would seem to fit with the general image of that place. I really ****ing hope so. Chairmen & boards that think they can run the team & just want a puppet manager only ever ends one way. Boehly certainly gives off that vibe. Would be brilliant to watch them stutter, stumble & take another 2 steps back. ****ing shit awful club.

Boehly is a moron, Christ knows how he's had successful sports teams in the US.

As much as people complain about Man City, Chelsea IMO are so much worse. At least Man City spend their money well, have an established squad and bring in players selectively to fit their needs, and produce entertaining football as a result.

Chelsea are a horribly run club that just throws money everywhere hoping something will stick.

I see the 'best team in the league' didn't win the playoffs...

I just checked & their forum doesn't have a thread called We Are Premier League.

Unusual.

I mean, we've got one.

Puzzling.

Can't even imagine what their forum must be like. Nostalgic AI pictures that make everywhere look like the Hovis ad? Thousands on the national service idea? Millions titled "I'm not racist but....."

Given that their main forum is named about them being champions of Europe, I doubt losing today would stop them having a thread about it.

**** me I hadn't actually noticed that !!

Jesus.

I mean, it's bad enough Forest forever banging on about it but at least in their case it's actually a statement of fact.

Still, if you look back at the whole history of Leeds, even during their greatest days, they did specialise in being runners up an awful lot. Maybe they actually think that 2nd is really first & they won the EC in 75 due to Bayern being disqualified for being German. Or something.
