Word 2010 - bring picture to front

I insert a picture into a new Word document and then insert a 'shape'. I cannot send the shape to the back or bring the picture to the front - there are no options to send forward or back on the picture.

Any ideas?

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can layer objects in Word, so there'd be no reason for the option to bring it to the front or back

Can you put the picture in as a watermark?

Aha! When an image is imported the default 'wrap' settings fix the image in place and have to be changed to 'in front of text'.

Sorted.

I can layer shapes and pictures - haven't tried any other insertions or objects yet!

Just tried with text and word-art - seems that text and text-based objects cannot be layered but can be moved to front or back depending on wrap settings.

I upgraded from Word 2000 so the jump was huge for me! Getting used to it's little quirks now though.

Never tried 2007 Cate so can't offer an opinion on that.

It's pretty impressive. i may have the mac version (which is actually 2011. not sure why) but it's pretty solid- all the uni pcs use 2010 and it's just generally easier to use than 2007. Don't think the graphics are that much different though.
