Incidentally will we ever win a game again without the media saying how we’ve recaptured our title winning form etc etc?

Or will Riyad ever score a goal again without us being told he’s back to his best?

Probably once us recapturing our title winning form leads to another title win and then it'll just be the norm form.

The Wham game was awful, pretty surprised anyone could argue otherwise. The Spuds game was efficient and a good game for most of it. Hopefully we'll see more of the latter, more like Claude-io than Puel-is please.

Amazing how you see things so differently to me and the fans I talk with.

I'm seeing a team in transition in terms of the style of play. More ball on the ground, more passing, more penetration and less reliance on long balls and counter attacks. It isn't going to happen overnight but it's better than what we saw from the last manager.

I saw no transitions being abandoned, quite the opposite.
Was it the really different 4-4-2 that was radical? Maybe it was the conceding possession and hitting them on the counter, winning the game with 35 odd percent possession? Ah, perhaps it was the use of Mahrez and Albrighton on the wings firing balls to Okazaki and Vardy playing as traditional strikers that was the genius of yesterday?

Maybe, just maybe however, it was a manager assessing what we are good at and going back to that. How you can possibly say we had less reliance on counter attacks when we had a third of the possession is beyond reason. The performance in the first half was great, but let's not pretend it was anything better than that which we saw under Ranieri's first year; that would be hysterical.

West Ham got a ****ing pummeling tonight at Goodison from an Everton side that looked truly worthless when we played them the other week. I think that puts the level of our performance last week into decent perspective.

Bit of nostalgia too...Rooney got a hat-trick against a pile of shite, so presumably he's now world class again & the red tops will be calling for him to come out of retirement to lead us to glory in Russia :044:

The finest football we have seen was that delivered under Ranieri

Please do not belittle and bespoil that glorious period by pretending that the football played last night was in any way close to what was produced for large parts of that season, because it just wasn't
I don't disagree with you in a way.

This is different footballing style.

We are trying to use the midfield when we have the ball again now, something that we stopped doing last season.

I think our build-up under Puel is slower than our title winning season, but that's largely down to the different styles of Drinkwater and Ibora.

It's my impression that Puel is trying to find a way to get the best out of all of the players rather than the obsession with Vardy's pace that his predecessors seemed to rely on. As such I expect some more tweaks and experiments, and as a result some short term inconsistency. We will be better off in the long run though.

I actually think Iborra might be better thank Drinkwater...
Also he's taller and way better looking. I don't even care that Danny left because we're really happy with Vicente now. He could be the one.

They're very different but I know what you mean. He's certainly a tidier player but he will probably offer less going forward. One thing he certainly won't do is chuck in the towel like DD used to. Brown Nose got it spot on with him - when we were winning he was great but he could not raise his game when we were struggling. I used to think BN was wrong about this until last season. He wasn't.

Think he is better going forward, and more of a goal threat than you give him credit for. Drinkwater never scored enough goals for me. Iborra scored 7 in each his last 2 seasons with Sevilla.

I did say 'probably' ;). I think he will play much more of a solid central anchor for us rather than a forward pressing midfielder.

I repeat, I'm seeing a team in transition in terms of the style of play. More ball on the ground, more passing, more penetration and less reliance on long balls and counter attacks.

As confirmed today by the captain, Puel wants his City side to play in a different style to previous managers, with more of an emphasis on keeping the ball and passing it more accurately.

Don't waste your breath, people are too obsessed with formations and the goals from Tuesday to realise the subtle and not so subtle differences in the way we are playing.

s'funny

Say somethng enough times and the feckwits will believe it as fact
