Speculation Motown's hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Summer 2017 rumours thread

In contrast, I think a lot of people are writing off Morgan and to a lesser extent Huth, prematurely.

There really isn't any reason why they both can't rediscover their 15/16 form next season.

I agree that we want another defender, but I'd go for a young RB/CB, not an established player that will have to be picked.

Huth is a great player and should start. We need an upgrade on Wes. Certianly not a future prospect.

I can't believe a number of people think that Harry Maguire and maybe a backup CB/RB are enough to make up for our woeful defence. Have you all forgotten last season already?

Simpson is backup quality for a team that wants to finish top 8. Fuchs had about 8 good games all last season.

We need an experienced CB who will have to be picked (because he's one of the 2 best CB on the squad), we need an RB to oust Simpson and an LB to challenge Chilwell for the starting position.

We also need a striker / no.10 who will immediately be a large step up from Okazaki.

IMO of course.

Er.... what about the woeful midfield and woeful attack? Are we replacing all them as well?

I certainly think Morgan and Huth have another season in them. Youth and pace cannot make up for experience and guile. When Morgan and Huth are on song they are almost telepathic, like the rest of the team was just over a year ago.

Cant disagree however we need adequate cover as I doubt they can both last a season

Last year was the extra season for Wes's experience and guile, next season could well be one too far.

You've really got to let go the title winning season. This is not the same set of players, mentally nor physically.

The midfield was a disaster but we brought Ndidi in in January and that started to sort it out. We also have a lot of skilfull young players coming through in midfield like Gray and Lawrence and Barnes etc...

I keep making the point that we need a drastic improvement on Okazaki. Vardy was terrible most of the season and elite towards the end. slimani is class but needs to be used properly. We need to either change formation or get in a far better player for the number 10 position. Ulloa should be oughtta here and we should have a quality forward and another young back-up in.

Big Wes looked shattered last year I think alot of the squad were mentally worn out, it has been a turbulent 4-5 years with massive highs. The jury is still out with Slimani (IMO) however we did not really play to his strengths. It could all be down to Gray and Mahrez, if Mahrez goes can Gray step up and deliver real quality in the final 3rd? If Mahrez stays will he up the ante and create for the front two? I would love to see youth given exposure upfront Lawrence did well last season albeit at a lower level, it will be good if he is given the chance.

There really isn't any reason why Morgan can't rediscover his 14/15 or 16/17 form next season.

Morgan and/or Huth are good enough still - but I think they need someone else starting alongside either one of them.

I actually think Huth declined more than Morgan this year - I'd sooner keep Morgan in the starting line-up and replace Huth.

it really is odd that people think Wes' real level is that season when the other 2 season in the prem he was fairly crap.
If our starting back four next season is Simpson Morgan Huth Fuchs we are in trouble

Exactly.

There's nothing wrong with our full backs. Both Simpson and Fuchs are fine and it would be virtually impossible to replace them with much better options without spending monstrous amounts of money, assuming of course we could attract anyone much better in the first place.

I think both Huth and Morgan have a part to play but it will be in rotation. Maguire has been brought in to start and that's the right decision. I'd be happy for Huth or Morgan to be along side him but, if I am honest, I'd be even happier if it was Gibson or Smalling beside him.

The midfield must be our priority along with another CB. Most of our problems last year were to do with a massive lack of creativity and flair. Sort that, and we will be so much better.

Deluded.

Anyone would think we won the prem last year. Not finished almost 50 points behind Chelsea.

FIF you can't just blame the full-backs, Simpson has his shortcomings but he was our best defender on more than one occasion. Fuchs was awful, he simply wasn't the player of the previous season, I don't know why this was so and I would love someone to explain how he and others in the team performed so badly. As for Wes and Huthy, they were left so exposed by a the midfield and the backs it is little wonder they struggled. It doesn't help when your reaching the end of your career, your pace has gone and your reliant on experience to be in the right place at the right time time. Both are past their prime and I see them as excellent cover for a new central defensive partnership of Maquire and a yet to be signed partner, if that doesn't happen then as 'pop' said they will be used in rotation. Of all the rumours about possible players I think Iheanacho, (if that's the correct spelling), would bring something we have lacked for a while, an attacking midfielder to play behind Vardy such a signing would make me very happy.

Nurse, nurse.... he's out of bed again.

Our full backs were to blame, not the fact we couldn't score in a brothel, create anything meaningful for 85 minutes a game or pass a ball through midfield. And I'm deluded..... Okay, pot.

2016 68 scored 36 allowed.
2017 48 scored 63 allowed

not being able to create anything is a problem but that doesn't make your defense incapable of defending, Simpson is the perfect reserve right back IMO, Fuchs is fine to keep around as back up to and mentor of Chilwell

Exactly but Pop won't listen. He's lost his common sense.

I see Iheanacho as more competition to Vardy, he's certainly not a no. 10
I get the feeling we will be looking to change system, perhaps 3-5-2 or 4-3-3. I think we really suffered for only having 2 in midfield last season, it really wasn't possible after Kante left.

Kasper
Maguire - Huth/Morgan - Other
Albrighton - Ndidi - Sigurdsson - Drinkwater - Chilwell
Vardy - Iheanacho

I would be very happy if we can have something like the above.
