If we worked at the same place and I was their immediate superior, the manager in overall control of all staff and we were on a goodwill tour of the owners country, then, while I wouldn't be ecstatic about it, I could understand why the owners would see it as a dereliction of my duties...

I believe Nigel and Top got along very well. I think the problems were with his father. But after Thailand, it probably was too much for Top to defend after everything else that went on this season. Lets not forget, it was a goodwill trip in their own country. And Nigel was in charge of the players.
