I think the term 'all rounder' is used far too generously in cricket. My definition of all rounder would be a cricketer who could be picked in a team for either his batting or bowling alone. (Being a good fielder is a bonus!) Jigar Naik is a bowler who can bat but would never be picked on...

Love it :) Was a good batting cameo from White but is his bowling really worth persisting with? In three T20 matches so far this season he is wicketless with an economy rate of 9 per over. I bet the England selectors are salivating!

Yep. Gurney's still with us. Can't see him getting another deal again at the end of the season - he's 25 this year and cannot be classed as a youngster any more.

Cobb has maybe found his niche in one day cricket as a pinch hitting opener who can bowl a bit. This could also see him proving very useful in Twenty20 cricket. Since his superb near 150 innings at Lords 3 years ago, as of yet he has not progressed as well as hoped on the first class stage...

This is the team I would go for: Jefferson, Cobb, Du Toit, Taylor, McDonald, Razzaq, Nixon, White, Naik, Henderson, Hoggard. It's a good balanced side with a seam attack of Hoggie, Razzaq, McDonald and White and three spinners in Hendo, Naik and Cobb. Plenty of big hitters too...

I totally agree about the wicketkeeper situation. It should be one from Nixon, New or even Dixey. Not two of them. Nico gets my vote - not in the best of form - but he has just returned from injury and I'm sure he has the character and ability to get amongst the runs once again. Anyway...

Who would ever believe we won the toss? Boyce is still there though - he'll probably carry his bat after what I said earlier! We'll no doubt have to rely on Naik and Henderson to add some lower order runs.

I hope I'm wrong but I can't seriously see Boyce getting two good knocks in succession. That 119 he hit last week, I think it must have been a gap of 2 or 3 years since his only other century.

Excellent all round performance from Naik. Jig is starting this season how he finished last and surely should now be one of the first names on the team sheet. Yet still no doubt, he will be dropped for Wayne White though!
