    Leicestershire v Trinidad and Tobago

Poor bowling, poor fielding positions, poor batting, poor captaincy, poor management. I think that sums it up! For one, it was so bloody obvious that we needed to play Naik as the extra spinner but not obvious to Hoggard and Whitticase though. We showed a complete lack of ideas when...

    MIddlesex CC home

Tom New has been released by the County. No surprise really. Still think he is a more capable opener than Boyce though.

    Durham v Leics T20

I was at the Riverside this afternoon - an absolutely cracking match! Batsmans paradise and the outfield was lightning quick. With the Jefferson (who was excellent) and Du Toit partnership we really should have gone onto win but Durham are a good side and unfortunately a couple of poor...

    Notts T20

Gone off for rain. Now got to put up with Stringer commentating on hockey. Should have got Alan Young on as co-commentator!

The most exciting player for us since Afridi.

    Notts T20

Notts 164-8 - Great last over from Razzaq - 2 wickets with 5 runs conceded. We've done well to slow them down. I fancy us to knock that off.

Same for me Glyn...think we'll have to wait until 6pm for the commentary on standard BBC Radio Leicester. Very poor show indeed.

    Leics 20/20 batting line up

In the early stages of T20 last season Du Toit was our main big hitter but as the T20 carried on he wasn't quite as dynamic. He was one of our stand out players in all cricket last season but I think he'll be the first to admit that this season for him has been a big disappointment so far...

    Notts T20

Will be a tough one tonight - Notts have a very strong batting line up. Wessels, Hales, Voges, Hussey, Patel are all very dangerous players. I think we might see Razzaq move up the order. We know he can open but I think they'll stick with Cobb and McDonald with Jefferson at 3 and then Razzaq...

    Wayne White

I think the term 'all rounder' is used far too generously in cricket. My definition of all rounder would be a cricketer who could be picked in a team for either his batting or bowling alone. (Being a good fielder is a bonus!) Jigar Naik is a bowler who can bat but would never be picked on...

    Wayne White

Love it :) Was a good batting cameo from White but is his bowling really worth persisting with? In three T20 matches so far this season he is wicketless with an economy rate of 9 per over. I bet the England selectors are salivating!

    Lancs T20 - Match 2

A fantastic game and a sensational performance from Razzaq. It took me back to the days of Afridi! It's great to have a truly world class t20 player that other teams will fear. Thankfully the Pathan deal fell through!

    Lancs T20 - Match 2

You know what Bocadillo? I didn't even know what this 'vCash' thing was all about! Maybe, I will have a flutter!

    Lancs T20 - Match 2

Thats exactly the team I would go for Jimmy Lad. I just hope we don't 'waste' a place in our side by picking Boyce - who seems to be picked purely for his fielding! Get Naik in - good all rounder, batter, bowler and fielder. I also assume Razzaq will open the bowling and bowl at the...

    Wayne White

Agreed. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when New and Dagnall were discussing him as a potential England player! I seem to remember some senior county players predicting England futures for Matt Boyce and Matt 'Wide' Whiley in the past. Might as well have gone the whole hog and...

    Northants T20

I never doubted his inclusion for a second :)

    Northants T20

Disappointing there is no Razzaq and would much rather have had Naik and Malik playing instead of Boyce and Gurney. Wait for the succession of wides!
  25. L

    Kent CC match

Yep. Gurney's still with us. Can't see him getting another deal again at the end of the season - he's 25 this year and cannot be classed as a youngster any more.
  26. L

    Kent CC match

Cobb has maybe found his niche in one day cricket as a pinch hitting opener who can bowl a bit. This could also see him proving very useful in Twenty20 cricket. Since his superb near 150 innings at Lords 3 years ago, as of yet he has not progressed as well as hoped on the first class stage...

    Kent CC match

Pope's glove work was always highly rated but I don't think he would have ever cut it as a batsman. Although, he never really had that much of a chance at Grace Road, confined only to appearances in tour matches and meaningless Pro40 fixtures. I noticed at the start of the season that he was...

    Twenty20 Team

If it were not for White's recent good form than I would have selected Malik. Harry Gurney was selected in most of the matches last year, surely they are not going to go down that road again?
  29. L

    Twenty20 Team

This is the team I would go for: Jefferson, Cobb, Du Toit, Taylor, McDonald, Razzaq, Nixon, White, Naik, Henderson, Hoggard. It's a good balanced side with a seam attack of Hoggie, Razzaq, McDonald and White and three spinners in Hendo, Naik and Cobb. Plenty of big hitters too...

    Kent CC match

I totally agree about the wicketkeeper situation. It should be one from Nixon, New or even Dixey. Not two of them. Nico gets my vote - not in the best of form - but he has just returned from injury and I'm sure he has the character and ability to get amongst the runs once again. Anyway...

    Abdul Razzaq

Fantastic signing for the Twenty20 campaign! Razzaq

    Shankar

This is the type of thing I would have expected to happen to us!
  33. L

    Northants CC match

Who would ever believe we won the toss? Boyce is still there though - he'll probably carry his bat after what I said earlier! We'll no doubt have to rely on Naik and Henderson to add some lower order runs.
  34. L

    Northants CC match

I hope I'm wrong but I can't seriously see Boyce getting two good knocks in succession. That 119 he hit last week, I think it must have been a gap of 2 or 3 years since his only other century.
  35. L

    Northants CC match

This is the team I would go for: Jefferson, Boyce, Nixon, Taylor, McDonald, Dixey, White, Naik, Henderson, Hoggard, Malik. With Buck being ruled out for the next 2 months, I would go for White over Gurney. Neither have particularly impressed as bowlers but White does give us that extra batting...

    Glamorgan CC match

Excellent all round performance from Naik. Jig is starting this season how he finished last and surely should now be one of the first names on the team sheet. Yet still no doubt, he will be dropped for Wayne White though!

    2011 Leicestershire CCC Predictions

Smith is available for this game according to the Mercury. I wouldn't pick Boyce but no doubt he will be in the XI.

    2011 Leicestershire CCC Predictions

Yes, we have a small squad, but it's competitive and if we stay relatively injury free then there is no reason why we cannot seriously challenge for promotion in the Championship. My team for tomorrows opener: Smith, Jefferson, Taylor, Nixon, Du Toit, New, Naik, Henderson, Hoggard, Buck...

A slow news day at the County??

White signs on Date: Tuesday 22 February 2011 Wayne White has signed a contract for the 2009 season at Leicestershire CCC. The 23-year-old all-rounder, who initially joined the club in pre-season following his release from Derbyshire, has impressed County's coaches in both the games he...
