If you take your time when looking for a car you can really find some gems hidden about. Just research the car before you buy, check what the common faults are and as I said earlier, check how many previous owners.

If you are looking for a Golf Joe, search for some GTi owners forums as this will be the place where you find the cars that have been well maintained and most likely to be in almost mint condition. Same goes for any car really, have a butchers for some owners forums and you will find some great deals around. I got my car from an owners forum and managed to get away with paying just 1k for it.

With twice as much budget Joe, I'm sure you could find an absolute minter if you have the time and patience to look.
