Just read on www.bbc.co.uk/football that Leicester were the biggest offender in football club tax avoidance, being responsible for £7m out of £28.7 million of unpaid tax from football clubs going into administration over the past 5 years.

All in all Leicester paid just 10% of their 7 million tax debt, with L**ds also dodging a nigh on £7m tx bill.

I thought all this was done and dusted years ago. Are we still liable for the remaining amount because the Revenue has not written it off?

I don't believe so, I think it just highlights that we were nowhere near as innocent in going into administration as some on here like to believe.

I don't think we were totally innocent in the whole thing and the build up to it, but that was the agreement we made with the Revenue as part of the deal to get out of Admin, so it's not like we did anything wrong in that sense. We just jumped through all the hoops that were put before us.

Said we are top of the league, Said we are top of the league!!!

That said I don't feel bad about this at all - one it's the tax office and their bleating that they can't get hold of the money is terrrific! The amount of money they've lost the country by making small business bankrupt before givng them a chance to pay much be a much greater amount than this.

Secondly, it was the deal with the TV company (the one with the monkey advertising it?) which fell through when they went tits up that screwd US! DO the tax office moan about TV companies?

Who?

Crawley Town £193k £96K £97k

Even tiny non-league clubs are at it. That's what happens when you have crims in charge.

ITV Digital, destroyed the financial plans of a lot of clubs. Scumbags.

Maybe if so many people hadn't been using illegal viewing cards in their ITV digital boxes they would have survived. It was dead easy to buy and programme the dodgy viewing cards.
Although even if everyone who watched it paid for it I doubt they'd have covered the cost of the ridiculous amount they agreed to pay for football league matches.

To be pedantic, it's £6.3 million that was unpaid, not £7 million.

The amount paid was agreed when the club came out of administration, and more would have been paid back if we'd stayed in the Premiership for longer than the one season.

so we were the team who paid the most of our tax bill

It would have helped if the service that ITV digital provided was half decent instead of the "tough shit, you're tied in for a year" crap you got whenever you called them with a technical problem... I was never so happy as when I handed that pile of crap box back to them.

We will be checking the accuracy of these figures.

The initial deal was 10p in the £1, therefore the 10% stated.

HOWEVER

The club was then promoted and a further payment was made to all creditors as part of the administration deal, so we don't see how the Inland Revenue would not have received a second payment

How many members do you have?

I blame Roy Essandoh.

the list is just "who is the biggest team to go into admin"

;)

Whilst the above doesn't stand us in glory, it does show that we are not the worst offenders, the debt is bigger because we are a bigger club and have all the trappings that go along with it. (Doesn't make it right) it's just the way it is. So hats off to crawley town, Lincoln City, Wrexham and inperticullar Oldham for trying to do what's right by their creditors, I only hope the percentage paid back is the same for all their creditors and not just the Tax Office!
