The Leicester city of 2005 is at the moment devoid of any great talent. In an ideal world, if you could pick one player from the past, who would you most like to see step in to help transform our season ?

Walshy, he had what we lack the most in the current squad - passion for the club.

He's here, he's there...:038:

Although not scoring too many at mo, i've got to go for washie. He'd sort them out at the back no worries.

Of that i have no doubt. I think he also scored a few for us when Brian Little used him as a striker. Anyone remember how long he played up front for us, i'm sure it was for quite a few games.

His goalscoring record when he played up front was more impressive than anything a 'real' striker has done for us since then.

His first start as a striker was (I think) the 4-2 win over Swindon in December 1992. He didn't score, but he took to playing up front immediately (unlike Matt Elliott who took a while to get used to it).

He mainly played up front for the rest of that season, scoring 15 goals in 30 games.

He started as a striker the following season, scoring 6 goals in the first 9 games before an injury put him out of action for most of the season. After a brief return in March before he was really ready, he came back into the team, still only half fit, for the play off second leg against Tranmere - followed by the play off final against the sheep - his finest hour and a half?

So in a season and a half after being converted to a striker he played 43 games and scored 23 goals. To put that into perspective, the only strikers who have consistently scored goals at that rate in their Leicester career in the last 40 years have been Gary Lineker and Derek Dougan. Walsh's goals to games ratio during this period was far better than the likes of Dickov, Cottee, Claridge, Roberts, Connolly etc achieved for us.

In the glorious words of Bonnie Tyler:

Doo doo doo doooo
Doo doo doo doooo
Doo doo doo doooo
Aaahhh
Aaahhh

Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where’s the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?

good call ox fox or maybe jethro tull with..

"we wont give in ......we keep living the past" would be more appropriate ;)

Very difficult question to answer because each player on the list would at make a massive difference to the current team. But for me the one player who stands out for his attitude, commitment and passion for the club has to be Walshy.

I know he probably isnt management material, but I would love to see him come back to the club in some capacity. It would IMO be a massive pick me up for the whole club and especially the fans. And it would certainly stoke some passion into the current crop of players.

Would definitely agree with that.... we need that passion to fire the team and crowd up!
