Blue Maniac

Alzheimers sufferer
I happen to be losing sleep over this problem. If one is sans car, how does one get from Loughborough to Tamworth in time?

It's a thought. Not sure many people exist who would let me in their car though, petrol money or not :icon_bigg

Realy disappointed in the pre season friendlies that have been arranged so far,we play Tamworth,Loughborough and Hinckley.have you seen who Peteborough have lined up?Villa Spurs and Fulham. We are supposed to be getting prepared for life in the Championship not the Conference.

So by playing against sides that will be more tiring and potentially disheartening is a better way to prepare? The only reason they have those friendlies is to generate more income.

Once again your post belies your username

I would guess 1st August will be a home friendly against a bigger club. Burnley or Wigan, maybe.

Not saying that it would be a better way to prepare but a game against better competition from a higher league would at least let us see how we do against decent opposition.Rather than play lower league clubs to get to the first game of the season and be overconfident and get stuffed 4-0.

It worked fine last year. Pearson didn't get overconfident then, I seem to recall he kept emphasising that getting the players match-fit was the main purpose of the friendlies. Whatever results you get pre season against any team, regardless of their supposed quality, means absolutely diddly-squat as to how the new season will go IMO.

But why do we need to see how we get on against teams we won't be playing?

It did not work fine for those fans who find it difficult to get to away matches last year. It works fine for Tamworth and Shrewsbury supporters this year. August 8th is a long way off and I certainly hope that we can get at least one home friendly before then.

I looked into this when the fixtures were announced and I couldn't find a way to do it without going by car.

I am certain you could do it by motor bike as well..... I will have to check though.

Having three home friendlies will wear off the novelty of having a home friendly. It's only been the past few years we even had a home friendly....and bar one game against Fiorentina, they have all been like watching paint dry. Hinckley's friendly was a 9 goal thriller last year and the money went to a deserving party.

I meant it worked out fine in terms of the season that followed. I doubt if they will play more than one home game as I suspect home friendlies for Leicester do not generate much of a profit, if at all. Anyway, if you can't make it to Shrewsbury ( I can, snigger ) have a word with Nige and ask if they'll play in your back garden.
