I bet our academy lads feel like they are in a canoe without any oares heading towards the crest of the Niagara falls.

They know at the minute they are doing superb, but they also know if they can't get off, they are just going to go straight off the edge and die.

Poor fcukers, all that hard work for nowt.

The manager rates Academy football very highly, so you never know.
 
King, Mattock and Chambers all in the team...

Would that suggest Ollie is not considering them for the weekend, or, for that matter, the immediate future?

So have all the others, apparently.

I'd love to see them make it, maybe they need more nurturing whilst making the transition?. Something is defo not right when making the step up.

Maybe it's as was suggested, and that maybe they just aren't good enough? Who knows?

Our conversion rate is shocking recently. Maybe some of them have been 'blooded' too soon and that has fecked them up? But an Academy winning team should turn out AT LEAST one half decent first team squad player who could play at a higher level... There is something rotten in the state of Belvoir Drive.
 
Totally agree Melts, something ain't right. I'm pretty sure IH had identified this early on, he knew these lads needed more help from leaders om the pitch - which we have been largely devoid of. In reflection, the summer was a massive shambles, which MM I believe got largely wrong.

When was the last time Leicester won a 3-2 cup match? When was the last time we saw a City side to really get stuck in - and of course win games in a row?

It's good to see these lads can do it in a Leicester shirt at that level, and we can but hope that given time and much better support (i.e not coming in to a side bereft of confidence, in front of large, disappointed crowds) that they will grow and bring the fighting days of our club back, which I sorely miss.

This is exactly the problem, we should be bringing them on for 15 mins when we are 2-0 up and they can enjoy the experience. instead they are under pressure to perform straight away.

I don't seem to remember trhe youth team pulling up many tree's 3/4 years ago, hence very few have gone on to make any kind of impression at first team level.

I have more hope however that this current crop in 3/4 years will be starting to make a real impact at first team level.

I think they should play if there good enough. But i also think that you should not have the majority of your team old enough to still be playing for the Under 18's!
A solid base of experianced professionals with one or two of the young lads would be fantastic. Shame about that solid base.
