August 2004 was when I got hold of it, I remember it well and then they got a heap of well-deserved hype and boosted sales.

2004 was the year when 'Indie' became mainstream.

Hot Fuss is a half of a masterpiece album.

First half kills the second - agreed. I actually like 'Glamerous Indie Rock n Roll'.

Agreed.

Best albums of this year for me:

1. Arcade Fire -Funeral
2. Maximo Park - Apply Some Pressure
3. LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem
4. Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
5. Go! Team - Lightning! Thunder! Strike!
6. Late Registration - Kanye West

Honourable Mentions - The Brakes, British Sea Power, Editors, Elbow, Franz Ferdinand, MIA, Nine Black Alps, We Are Scientists & The White Stripes.

Incidentally this site is pretty good, its interesting to pick the publications that have bias towards a certain genre/fashion etc. I would hazard a guess that Pitchfork and cokemachineglow will never be a fan of music like Oasis while anything that Wilco/Radiohead do will be treated as mana from heaven.

Oasis - The Importance of Being Idle
David Gray - Slow Motion
James Blunt - Back To Bedlam
Feeder - Pushing The Senses
KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope

I am seriously impressed with Bloc Party - Silent Alarm.

Other quality albus of the year are:

Arcade Fire - Funeral
The Brakes - Give Blood
British Sea Power - Open Season

Can't stand Hard-Fi, dire uninteresting bollocks.

I'd say the same was true for Bloc Party!

I'd say that Bloc Party are one of the best bands to emerge this year. I've seen them live twice and each time as been an enlightening experience to rival anything I've seen in the past five or so years (excluding British Sea Power of course).

As for Hard-Fi, saw then once and was bored, depressed and angry that radio 1 would try to promote their non stop chav rock.

Don't like the music but thats just an individual taste thing, however the Lead 'singer' comes across as a total cnut.
