Allen Update
Posted on: Tue 19 Jun 2007

Today has been a busy day again. Off the field I am pleased to have finally secured the services of Alistair Smith. Alistair is, for want of a better word, my manager. He looks after me and he manages me. I met him at Warwick University when I was on a UEFA pro-licence course. Alistair was one of the presenters on decision-making, strategic thinking and developing managers and executives in business and in sport. I have worked closely with him for a year and he has helped me develop new strategies, different ways of thinking, different ways of working through things, coping with the stresses, delegation, organisation, making me improve and learn and trying to make me a better all round manager.

He sets me monthly homework and tasks that I have to do, which if I fail he gives me detention. He does this with not only myself, but also all my staff. All the staff at Leicester City will be introduced to him and each member of staff will have the opportunity to work with Alistair to enable them to develop, improve and further their own education - whether it be on the football side, the analysis side or the medical side. He will be a real asset to help us all develop and push ourselves to the limits.

Dave Hockaday has decided to join Southampton Football Club as under 18s manager. It is nearer to Dave's family home, which I fully respect and accept. He goes with my best wishes. He is a terrific coach and a terrific person and wish him all the very best.

For me personally, I do now need to have a break. With the help of Don Mackay and Tim Davies, everything is now put in place for all the staff to go about their work and get it all ready for me. It has been a very tiring few weeks, but I can now go confident and clear in my mind that everything is ready. There have been some long days and I do need to recharge my batteries to get myself ready for the 10-month campaign that we face when we get back.

Take Care,

Martin

Is that it then ?? All the signings are in ??

The Gaffers all done

Our new boss needs a break now, he has set everything and ready to go :icon_conf

FFS MA does even less work than me. :icon_eek:

Alistair has given him some homework and Martin must have taken that to mean he has to go home to work.

Tiring week? Signed 6 players and put 5 on the transfer list, hardly tiring Martin. Must be all the homework he has been set :icon_roll

Alistair Smith has been described as "the UK's leading trainer in modern learning methods". He is a trainer, author and consultant. An outstanding presenter and motivational speaker, Alistair's workshops sell years in advance. Alistair travels throughout the UK and abroad delivering training based on his best-selling books.

After a varied and idiosyncratic career and a chequered school experience, Alistair taught in schools in England and worked with the Schools Advisory and Inspection service in a large local education authority.

He has written 11 books, featured on radio and television programmes, and spoken to over 100,000 educators at conferences throughout the UK and abroad.

Alistair's highly respected Accelerated Learning model is being used in classrooms throughout the UK as a means of raising student motivation and achievement. You can see some of the outcomes in Close Up - DVD sets which contain examples of outstanding classroom learning.

"One of a tiny handful of 'freethinkers' and 'influential visionaries'... who push the boundaries"
Channel 4 Television, September 2005

"The guru of acceleration"
Times Educational Supplement, July 2005

"He is a leader in his field. He comes from a practical background so all his examples are grounded in reality and so are easy for schools to work with"
David Crossley, Director of Achievement Networks, Specialist Schools Trust

"It has been a very tiring few weeks"

That would be the last fortnight, then, since you came back off your last feckin' holiday ?

There's no way with a straight face he can mean everything is in place.

Absolutely no way,

We are at least 6 players short of having even adequate number of players for the squad.

The midfielders we have are kishishev, wesolowski, hellings, porter and mattock. no right winger, no attacking midfielder no depth?

we haven't signed any 20 goal strikers? one injury prone journeyman, hume, fryatt, sappleton won't exactly set us apart from QPR.

we haven't signed any fullbacks.

He better have left some clear instructions for Mandaric to get the kitty out whilst he's sipping his pina colada's and doing his Nintendo DS brain exercises
