The 20-year-old midfielder has joined City from Redditch United on a six-month deal and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's League One clash at Carlisle United.

His mother says he is travelling to the game, which i know means he might not be in the squad

Verma's mother, Lina, said: “It's all happened so quickly and it's still sinking in that he's now come full circle and become a professional with Leicester, which is what he always wanted.”

“Lots of kids do look up to him and we're so proud. It's big enough to be awarded a contract but now he's travelling with the team to Carlisle and that's fantastic.”

if the signing is a publicity stunt then Pearson will look like a clown.which he clearly isn't.
personally, the quality of his signings to date says to me that this is not a symbollic signature - because signing a thoroughly shit player on the basis of him being a leicestershire born asian would benefit no-one.
if Mandaric wanted to tap the asian football fans of leicestershire cynically for the revenue potential he would have signed an indian or pakistan international like Bhupati (if he still plays) not a terrible non league player.
i sincerely hope he's a prospect. we could do with some midfield quality on the books.

It is interesting that he has not just been bought like Dyer and Adams. Presumably he impressed Steve Walsh when playing for Redditch and then impressed Nigel in reserve games. That sounds good enough for me.
It is a far cry from last season when Jimmy Neilson became number one goalkeeper without anyone having seen him play and Kaebi being brought in on the strength of a DVD.
I hope people will be patient with the new lad who will find the pace and standard very different. Michael Morrison was in the same boat but he had a pre-season. I think Morrison needs a couple of seasons before he becomes a really good player. I hope that Verma will be given time to prove himself or not.
