King's Lynn skipper Andy Boyce is being tracked by Championship new boys Leicester City.

The teenage centre-back is among a number of the club's youngsters who have attracted attention in recent weeks from Football League outfits.

Foxes' officials watched Boyce in Saturday's 5-1 home romp over Matlock while midfielder Owen Story continues to be the subject of interest from Conference Premier teams following his influential role in Lynn's play-off push.

Linnets' player/boss Carl Heggs revealed after his side's Kendal away win earlier this month he was braced for potential approaches from clubs higher up the football pyramid.

"It doesn't surprise me," he said. "We've all heard the rumours about Owen. He's 25 now and probably in the past he hasn't scored enough goals, but that is two in three after the weekend and he has been great for us. Andy is 19, not 22 or 23, so he is a fantastic age to go back in.

"Doncaster let him go in the summer and when I first brought him in he was a bit dopey and I still feel he has plenty to learn. But I think giving him the captaincy has worked wonders and brought him out of his shell.

"This is what non league football is all about. If we have to sell one or two to bring some money in then we'll do it. I'll just go out and find someone else. If you turn over enough stones it can be done."

Heggs did offload two of his fringe players yesterday with Jay Smedley and Ryan Beswick released. Beswick is poised to return to Kettering after spending two months at The Walks on non-contract terms. The former Leicester City trainee failed to score in 14 appearances and had fallen down the pecking order with the arrival of wide player Ben Muirhead. Defender Smedley played four games after joining from Hucknall.

"It's partly financial," said Heggs. "I can't have lads sitting around who are not going to get games. We've brought Ben in for Ryan and I think, in time, he will prove to be a better winger and Curtis (Shaw) has come in so that means one has to move on.

"Jay has not really been playing and we have to try and work within the budget.

"When I first came here I was moving four in, four out because I had no real choice. Now I don't want to put too much stress on the side so we're trying to do it on a much smaller scale. We're out of the way in this part of the country. That is the top and bottom of it so you have to get the right people and I think we've that balance right now and we can only go from strength to strength."

Heggs' next priority is to tie down young Football League loanees Lathanial Rowe-Turner and Kwesi Appiah. The duo's initial one month deals expire over the next fortnight.

"Lathanial is the one I want," said Heggs. "Leicester have already told him he is free to move on and they won't be offering him another deal. But he obviously can't join a club until the January window. He can go out on loan somewhere else up to Conference North level but why would he want to join a club one level higher where he doesn't know the manager. Ideally, I want him here until January.

"Kwesi is another lad I would love to keep for another month. I speak to my players on a daily basis and they really want to be a part of what we are trying to achieve so I just have to stay on their case."

Heggs has received an unexpected injury boost with defender Liam Murray deciding not to have surgery after breaking his collarbone against North Ferriby last month.

"Surgery is an option but he wants to see if he can play without going down that route," said Heggs. "Hopefully he might be back sooner than we thought."

does his twin still shadow him everywhere ?? :icon_lol:

That serious or I am missing a trick here? Cos 'tis true that Heggs' more or less shadow each other.

Always remember his sponsored motor from his Rushden & Diamonds days zooming around our area and then my Dad piping up with 'I used to play with his brother on Saturdays'. :icon_conf

they used to follow each other everywhere... I remember seeing them in town alot years back and they couldnt pee without the other following to do the same.... worse than women :icon_lol:

Im sure his brother died a few years back. My uncle used to play football with him on a weekend, and I vaguley remember when it happened. He died of a blood-clot I think.

Can't say much about him but I don't think we need any more centre backs. As for Rowe-Turner well I am gutted I really thought he was the next Cafu.
