I was, but judging by your reaction I'm going to go with...no...!!

I may be wrong, I didn't do any research, the article just angered me.

Can't understand why anyone would get angry with the content of the article.
The English language isn't a pure language anyway, and it's evolving all the time, words will only be accepted if people use them. A lot of the words we use originated from other languages, it's not like this is something new.

No one's forcing us to use new words, it's not like it's one big conspiracy, it's just the way things evolve.

But it happens a lot more in countries like France where a lot of English words are becoming used.

I agree with evolution of language, I just have a huge problem with the term "innit". Despite some of my lacklustre English on here, I don't like the abuse of our language in the current age, text speak and the like is the worst.

If we allow things like "innit" "chav" et al into our dictionary, which are basically slang, why do we not have things like "apples and pears" and other cockerknee slang?

I suppose my problem is not just with foreign influence on our language, as I am aware the term "our language" is wrong, as English was always an amalgamation of languages. My problem is with the misuse of it.

I read the book "eats shoots and leaves", which I guess explains alot!
