And a shortfall of 70,000 spectators at the Walkers over the 23 game season will cost us quite a bit more than twice that amount. The chance of a tie at OT is small - the shortfall in our own takings is a certainty. This leads me to believe that the statement that "a good run in the cups will go a long way toward the attendance shortfall in the budget" is not an accurate one.
Yes, it is important for us to treat the competitions seriously - yes, the money will be welcome - but no amount of fiddling about with imaginary figures will change my view on this.
