Nice try.

Our title achievement will forever be used as a reason why the improbable can happen. And of course it can. The problem is that it's improbable for a reason. The top six this season will probably be the same top six as last season because that's just what history/experience/knowledge tells us.

We could indeed go to Arsenal and win. However, it is extremely improbable. Based on very good evidence. Our record against that team, that manager and those players is dreadful.

I am very underwhelmed about this season for some reason. Maybe it's because of Shakespeare, maybe because I'm not excited by our transfer business. Maybe it's because I'm a miserable git. Maybe it's all three.

I expect us to start badly, lose confidence, lose key players before the end of the month, sack the manager and then (hopefully) recover in time to survive. I'm expecting us to be totally outclassed by Arsenal. And I warn you all now that I'm going to be insufferable in my complaining about every tactical cock-up, every stupid selection and every bad result.

The manager and players really need to show me something to ignite positivity this year. The end of last season, our summer business and the pre-season has done feck all for me. I'm almost feeling the same as at the start of the 2001/2 season.

I disagree with you. A lot. But not on this. I've the same creeping dread.

At this rate it could be another 40 years before we beat Forest...

I'd be more than happy if it's another 40 years before we even play F!"£$t.

The simple fact is that for us to actually be effective in a 442 we need absolutely every single player to give everything they have got for the full game.

We did it for one season, we won the league.

We will line up in a 442, we will have little creativity and yet we will still be fairly easy for good footballing teams to expose.

As I say, if the lads give absolutely everything then we could get a result, it's proven.

It's also proven that they don't really have that edge anymore. The same players haven't given that same level of utter commitment and tenacity since we won the league.

Even the players best mate Shakey couldn't get them going against the big teams last season, I have no faith he can coax them into it in this one.

I'm not pleased with our manager selection, I'm not pleased with our recruitment, I'm not pleased with half of this squad who went on holiday for most of last season.

I hope to **** I'm wrong and I'm more than ready to admit it when I am.

Sadly I think we will get beat again, but if by some miracle we win, we will be top of the league for the for the first time since May 2016 (and Arsenal will be in the relegation zone!) Got to be worth going for...

By sheer fluke we'll probably stay in the game for 80 or so minutes and then totally spunk it away at the end. If we score or even pressurise their defence for a combined total of 30 seconds I will be astonished.

So when we took Liverpool apart last season was not beating a top 6 team? We had an horrendous result against spurs towards the end of season with our back virtually absent. I am always confident and optimistic at the start of every season we have a tough start 6 from the first 15 pts will be good IMO.

I'm looking forward to this game - first of the season, I usually am.

I'll be probably be hating it by 8:30.

Anyway, everyone will be expecting an Arse victory so if we can escape with a draw I could be rather happy. Unless there's the usual dodgy ref decision. Again.

1-1 will be reasonable, thank you.
