Ashton Retires

West Ham's former England striker Dean Ashton has announced his retirement at the age of 26 after failing to recover from a long-term ankle injury.

This is a real shame - when he was fit, Ashton always looked a really good player. It must have been a bad injury if he can't recover from it in this day and age though.

Always a shame to see someone to have to retire through injury (unless it was Joey Barton)

I rated Ashton... think that if fit, he'd have featured a lot more for England. Something different to the other strikers we've got.

Can't see how he/West Ham could really sue anyone for it though, since he's had loooooads of injuries, and this is a recurring one... at which point of getting injured is someone to blame?
