Leicester City Football Club can confirm the addition of Willy Caballero to manager Enzo Maresca’s backroom team as preparations continue for the new 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

The 41-year-old Argentine arrives as Assistant Manager following an 18-month spell as a player with Southampton. He brings with him a wealth of experience from a playing career that has spanned over two decades across Argentina, Spain and England.

Caballero becomes the fifth addition to the manager’s backroom team following the appointment of First Team Coach Danny Walker, Goalkeeper Coach Michele De Bernardin, Fitness Coach Marcos Alvarez and Analyst Javier Molina Caballero.

The former goalkeeper and Argentina international has enjoyed a successful playing career in England, representing Manchester City for three seasons from 2014 and spending four campaigns with Chelsea. During those spells he picked up League Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League winners’ medals.

He now links up with the Leicester City squad with preparations underway for a pre-season friendly away to Northampton Town on Saturday 15 July (3pm kick-off) and ahead of the Championship season opener at home to Coventry City on Sunday 6 August (12pm kick-off).

An inexperienced assistant manger to sit alongside our inexperienced manager.

tell me, how do you get experience then?

You sound like some of the wankers I've met at job interviews. '.......but you haven't got experience in our products"
Somewhere else.

To be honest the interviewers probably just used that as an excuse rather than telling you you didn’t get it because you’re a knob

Think this is the first time I’ve mentioned my concern about having an inexperienced assistant to our inexperienced manager.

But barnstorming contribution as always from the guy who thinks people saying we’d get relegated are bedwetters, and who thinks that Danny Ward is a competent goalkeeper.

I think the issue is, you are continually negative about everything.

Which has proven to be correct.

Not sure there has been much to be positive about recently.

Depends on your definition of “recently” I guess.

I’m not arguing with your point in this thread though, as I hope things go well (obviously), but we’re on a massive step into the unknown here.

You ‘may’ be partially right.

The point is though that if you never post anything positive, that negativity defines you, and there’s enough to feel negative about in life in general.
