Predictions:

Comedy defending, with some nice attacking play without ever really looking like scoring in a month of Sunday’s.

2-0 home win.

Hermansen will be out for 'at least a couple more weeks'.

Faes may be back. Ayew available from suspension.

No McAteer but he may be back for QPR.

I ****ing hate Villa Park. I hope we pull out one of those weird games where we're shit but somehow win.

(The idea of us NOT being shit & winning hasn't actually entered my head, which sort of sums things up)

Head-to-head

  • Aston Villa can complete their first league double over Leicester City since 2004 following their 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium in August.
  • Leicester have won three of the last four Premier League meetings at Villa Park, following a run of two victories in their opening 10 visits.
  • Both teams have scored in 13 of the 14 Premier League encounters at Villa Park. The only exception was a 2-0 win for Leicester in December 2001.
Aston Villa

  • Aston Villa are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League games at Villa Park, their best run in more than a year.
  • The Villains have scored two or more goals in 12 of their last 17 matches on home soil.
  • They have lost just one of their last 13 matches when playing the opening game of a calendar year at home, a 2-0 defeat against Swansea in 2012.
  • Ollie Watkins has scored three goals in his last four Premier League starts.
  • Watkins has been involved in 97 goals in 165 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa, scoring 67 and assisting 30. He scored and assisted in a Premier League game for a club Premier League record 10th time in the 2-2 draw with Brighton.
  • Morgan Rogers and Watkins have combined for four Premier League goals this season, three of which have been scored by Rogers; only Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke, and Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy, both five, have done so more often.
  • In Villa's draw with Brighton, Leon Bailey completed nine dribbles, created three chances and had seven shots. He is the first player to produce those numbers in a Premier League match since Alexis Sanchez did so for Arsenal against Burnley 10 years ago.
Leicester City

  • Leicester picked up four points in their first two games under Ruud van Nistelrooy, but have since lost four in a row, their worst top-flight run since April 2023.
  • The Foxes have won just once in their last 11 league games.
  • They are in the relegation zone at the turn of the year for the first time since 2014-15.
  • Leicester have only lost their opening league match in two of the last 16 calendar years, although both defeats have come in their last two as a Premier League side: 3-2 against Tottenham Hotspur in 2022 and 1-0 versus Fulham in 2023.
  • Jamie Vardy has failed to score in his last six Premier League games against Villa. He had scored five goals in his first six top-flight appearances in this fixture.

I really like Villa Park as a stadium. It's a great mix of not being an identikit ground, but still generally being fit for purpose.

That said, the concourse on the Doug Ellis upper feels genuinely dangerous at times.

In the unlikely event that anyone has a spare ticket for this, I'd be more than happy to buy it off you.

Nothing against the stadium itself, it's fine. It's the associations.

My first visit was to watch us lose an FA Cup semi-final. A miserable day I remember all too vividly.

The second visit I got slashed on the back of the head with a straight razor.

**** Villa Park.

Is there any ground where some **** hasn't given you a good kick in?

I'm begining to think I know what the common factor is in all this.....

I remember what was possibly a cup match many years ago when we were clearly second best and yet won. The city player I remember from the match was, I think, called Delaney. He was the best player on the pitch but somehow, we let him go. I believe that he has a decent career and played for Palace.

If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. I just need to confirm that I am not going mad.

Damian Delaney, a Peter Taylor signing so likely under some kind of curse that it wouldn't work out for him here
