I think he would have been the key man to getting us promotion this year. he was quality, played for free at the start and was a very good holding midfielder which allowed Muzzy freedom and room.

I can never understand why Micky let him go but i think we should try to get him back or someone who plays similarly to him!!

i dont understand why he was let go - im pretty sure it was a case of him not being offered a new contract as opposed to walking out - hes a model professional, would have been a great influence on the younger lads both on and off the pitch and i think would still have been very effective at this level

Not sure about McKinley but I'd have liked to have seen Freund stay,all the others who went I was happy to see departing.

The strangest thing was in my opinioon though, that he was still playing regularly in the premier, so why would he not be able to cut it in div 1??

i bet he had a falling out with adams as adams seemed to do with a lot of the experienced players, and/or he refused to give billy some sort of coaching role - which he has been given at fulham. after all who would want an ex international with 20 years experience whose shown himself to be a committed professional footballer as a coach

i think micky had a lot of costly fallings out - callum davidson was a big big loss, very good player at left back or midfield, steve howey i thought did pretty well for us till he left and would have been excellent in this division and gerry was a massive loss - still good in this division and it would have been such a massive boost to have him screaming and shouting in the middle of the back four

IMO, McKinlay was a better player than Freund (who wouldn't have stayed anyway because he wanted big wages - whereas McKinlay played without being certain of being paid if you remember) and I can't understand why he wasn't offered a new contract, I had heard he wanted to move closer to his family in Scotland but then he went to Fulham so I can only guess it must have been Micky.
