Ok I upgraded my phone yesterday to get a new blackberry and as part of that I have a new plan which comes with the internet.

However, as my old plan doesn't have the internet, and my new one does, Orange have told me should I go on the internet between now and my billing date, I will get charged for it, as my new plan doesn't come into force until the next month.

So in order to avoid this, I've turned off the data and roaming services- as far as I can tell, this stops access to the internet (websites won't load, bbm won't work etc) but is this likely to affect my phone in any other way? I can still make and receive calls and texts etc.

The guy on the phone told me I can use the BBM etc without incurring any charges but I'd rather just wait a month then risk it ! Anyone know if this is likely to be correct or not?

As I understand it, BBM is signal related as opposed to data related. So on that basis what he's telling you I believe is correct.

In which case I would say the bloke at orange and NF are both spouting complete bollocks.

The reason I didn't think it was data was because the 12 lines I've got with Orange for work are all blackberry's and when the bill comes my data is always 0 usage despite me being active on BBM.
