To be fair to Akinbye, he worked his socks off for us. The problem was PT bought a player who chased long balls over the top, and used his pace to beat defences. What did PT try to do - he made him face his own defence all the time, and tried to turn him in to a Sheringham-like player, collecting the ball and laying it off. It didn't work as the ball kept bouncing off assorted parts of his body. This was not his fault, as that was not his game, and PT should bloody well have recognised it before shelling out all that money. Personally, I thought a) Akinbye was not good enough at that level anyway, and b) I had a lot of sympathy for him as he was being asked to play in a fashion totally unsuitable to the "skills" he possesed. Again, and I know I am repeating myself here, this was due to PT's total lack of judgement.
