I've just checked our wonderful train operators and the last train back is at 21.28 so I will not be going - if I had a car I'd go. Anyone driving past leeds?

Burnley, as my mate gets it over to Leeds quite often.

When I cut and pasted LS6's quote into Google, look what I got
:P

Steven, you really should get out more often.

I was trying to find Joe_Fox a bus so he could go to the game.  ;-)

and you thought that you would find one by cutting and pasting LS6's comment in to google?

I've told you Steven, go out and find yourself a good shag

Or even a bad one

Or take another trip to Bangkok

Anything

This is crazy - the last train back from Burnley to leeds is at 9.32, I have to change 3 times and I get back into Leeds at 2.30am - privatisation was a terrible idea for the railways IMO.

By pasting in the following quote "bus you can get to and from Burnley, as my mate gets it over to Leeds quite often." and performing some simple editing I am left with "bus from Burnley to Leeds", which one would have to concede is a good starting point for trying to find JF a bus.

There;s one at 9.57 that will get you to Leeds just before 3AM. Change at Blackburn and Manchester Victoria.

It's also impossible to get home by train to Leicester from a night match in places like d*rby and n*ttingham, the last train is too early.

But Joe, I'm sure you can't remember what trains were like before they were privatised. On a lot of routes there are a lot more trains than there used to be, and there are more passengers now than there have been for something like 50 years. But they don't run late night trains on routes that won't get many passengers (unless they have to as part of their franchise agreement), because they lose too much money.

Why doesn't the OS have some simple software that can do some car share matching. Don't have to travel with any particular person if you don't want to.

Webbie wasn't there some kind of message board for this sort of thing on an old version of the OS. :?:

Dunno.

Have a look for yourself, some clever person has kept a copy of the old site, which you can see at http://www.talkingballs.co.uk/oldos/

It's still uploading so not everything is there yet.

What a hopeless wank rag that man was.

I am not getting any train(s) that take(s) 5 hours to travel 26 miles. No chance - and I wouldn't believe anyone else would either.

A few years ago I went to a match in the North West somewhere (Everton?), that involved a train journey back that got me home at about 6 the next morning. Long waits for trains at Manchester and Birmingham.

On another occasion I did something similar involving long waits in Manchester and Sheffield, before getting the first train of the day from Sheffield to Leicester.
