I think I need to delete some programmes that are on my computer; unused prog are slowing it down I think. Here are some suspects that I think could be removed, can anyone confirm its ok to do so and won't harm computer. It's a very basic XP pc. Only used for basic website internet use & email. No games played, no music downloaded (just iplayer & youtube played sometimes). Please advise if I can delete these please! Thanks.

Name of prog how often & when last used size

DivX 'used rarely' last used 2005 27.40 mb
DivXconverter 'used rarely' last used 2005 27.40 mb
DivX Player 'used rarely' last used 2005 27.40 mb
Apple application support 41.37 'used rarely' (this is not an apple machine, no idea why/how this is here)
GoToAssist Corporate 'used rarely' 4.32 mb
Java(TM) 6 update 3 'used rarely' 111.00 mb
Java(TM) SE runtime 'used rarely' 88.00 mb

I presume I should leave anything alone that says 'microsoft'? eg:
Microsoft.NET framework 1.1 no info no info
Microsoft.NET service pack 2.0 'used rarely' 185.00 mb
Microsoft.NET service pack 3.5 'used rarely' 288.00 mb

Microsoft Visual Redistributable - several of these 2005x1 2008x3 all used rarely about 10mb each

Some of those you don't want to uninstall, but none of them will be slowing down your PC and uninstalling won't improve anything.

Try running Crap Cleaner instead

Wot he said.

Also, try Start > Run then type MSCONFIG, this will show you programs that are running at startup and might give you a better idea of what's slowing it down.

If he has d/l CrapCleaner like Macky suggested then he can do that more easily from within CC.
