I am wanting to capture a still from You Tube. I have copied the clip on to RealPlayer. Does anyone know a good and easy program (preferably free) that would enable me to capture a still from RealPlayer?Thank you.

If you're using Vista (other than the most basic version), you can simply pause the video and use the Snipping Tool.

In the absence of anything else and in whatever OS you could pause the video, take a screenshot and snip it in Paint.

MWSnap is a really handy, and free, tool for grabbing screenshots

If you can open the file in windows media player, go tools > options > performance and move the video acceleration down to 'None'.

Then you can use the Print Screen button and paste into an image editor (like paint), cut out the bit you want and save image as normal.

Something like gimp (www.gimp.org) might be helpful too.

Thank you to all those who posted. Looking up both MWSnap and SnagIt I found that both had excellent reviews and both had tutorials on YouTube. I have gone for MWSnap simply because it is free. Thanks again - David

Can't you just pause it at the specific moment and press the PrtSc key on your keyboard, then paste it into Microsoft Paint?

Like I said in post #4 ?

not quite - I added the part about video acceleration

Connect your laptop to your TV.

Play the video and pause at the appropriate moment.

Take a photograph of the screen.

Once the film has been developed and teh photograph printed, it can be scanned into your computer.

Simples.
