Injured all ready??!! Well I never imagined that happening at all....... :icon_roll

Can we open a vBookie Event on how many games Carl Cort will play for us next season?? :102:

ok, my bet is 2 starting appearances and 5 from the bench. Then to the stiffs and then on loan and then contract termination by mutual consent with the necessary compo.

Carl Cort has got a hamstring injury at the moment which he picked up against Hinckley. Is a blow as we need him to get prepared for this season, he will be out for a few weeks at most.

I'm sure it must happen at many other clubs....but managers come and go at Leicester, yet we seem to have this on-going compulsion to sign players who are more use as subjects for medical research than professional sportsman.

I'm with Consty on this one.......we will be trying to move Cort on within months. Hopefully Milan built the safeguards into Cort's contract relating to wages relating to appearances (on a football pitch) made.

I don't blame Cort for this cos it's often the case when players have had a succession of serious injuries that they suffer what i would non-medically call peripheral injuries when they attempt to play. Cort looked a near certainty for this kind of problem

Morris and Cort are the only two massive injury prone players I can think off in the recent past? But it does give a reason for you to moan again about the current situation so I guess that's OK.

I can't be doing witht the moaning either but I can think of a few more examples.

Matt Jones
Darren Eadie,

although really they only turned injury prone the minute we signed them,

Eadie had a lot of injury problems at Norwich, and it was a risk to pay as much as we did for him.

And I can prove it :icon_wink

"A favourite with the Carrow Road faithful for the fact he remained loyal to Norwich City despite transfer speculation from Premiership clubs for over 3 years. His loyalty may derive from the fact that the club supported him through his many injuries that limited his appearances. Darren even missed the start of the 1999/2000 campaign due to injury and considering his few appearances, the fact that Norwich received £3million for him can be considered as good business. "

I think on this occasion you are being slightly unfair on me Beighton.

In general I think things are looking quite positive for the new season and I'm reasonably optimistic.

However, I do think we are worst than most when it comes to signing players with bad injury records.

Just on the Eadie position - I recall that Norwich once valued him at £6m....then the injuries....and it looked risky business for us to pay a decent £3m.

On Cort....I think you would have to defy reason to think this one is going to work out.

Time to off load Carl Cort if you ask me.

If he is keen to play, he will accept that he may be covering other injuries or suspensions. It is rare for any team to have more than one player who can play all season. If he only plays 10 games of high quality then he serves his purpose. It is possible that his contract reflects that possibility with appearance money etc.

Add to that the rumours at the time that MON faked the x-ray on his knee to ensure we signed him and that we never could get insurance for him due to his shocking knee!!

It was always going to be a disaster!!

If it was really like that it wouldn't be so bad.

But the reality is more likely to be Cort playing the occasional game - always a bit rusty , never quite match fit - this was more or less how it was reported when he was with the Wolves and previously in the period prior to leaving Newcastle. This has been the position for what? 3 or 4 seasons now?

I just think that we should let other clubs mess about with players like Cort - who never deliver the goods.

From the BBC

Leicester boss Martin Allen has confirmed that striker Carl Cort will not be travelling with the squad for their pre-season trip to Scotland.
Allen has revealed that a hamstring injury has forced him to leave the former Newcastle forward behind.

"Carl picked up a hamstring injury in training on Thursday which means he will be out for a couple of weeks," Allen told the club's website.

The 29-year-old joined the Foxes on a free transfer from Wolves in 2006.
