I've never understood why people buy food/drink in football grounds. I get the corporate bit, but those kiosks, seriously? You're only there for a couple of hours. Can't you survive for that long without some piss poor awfulness?

It's always going to be poor quality and over-priced isn't it? They don't have proper kitchens. The service is from zero hours contract kids that don't give a shit. It's pure exploitation of staff and customers from the contractor to squeeze every gullible penny from you.

It's not as if there aren't dozens of better places to eat within a mile of the ground anyway. Why not do that instead?

The beer thing also puzzles me. It's not the best is it. Why not drink what you want somewhere better and then go to the ground? Or go for a drink somewhere better after the match?
Always annoys me when the cost of a pie and a pint is factored into all these 'cost of football' surveys nobody asked for. Why include optional extras that many of us would never consider?

Meeting led by Jim Donelly the famous goal celebratory. Introduced us to members of Levi Uk caterers team. They claimed the matchday catering has impoved tenfold in last few years. They spent 200k plus on new tills which give them all the management data they need. They then claimed the average transaction was 42 seconds . This was met with much amusement by the fans many claiming it was way off the mark particularly in L block. Ops manager agreed to meet two fans in L at Newcastle game to observe. They admitted the standard of kiosk assisant was inconsistent due to the nature of the job. Although they did receive teamwork training. They also claimed that due to the concourse being too narrow they couldn' add any more kiosks. They also stated they are tied (no pun intended ) to Singha for a very long time and no other lagers can be sold. On the pie front they invited tenders and pukka were not interested . They chose Piglets Pantry to trial in South stand and west stand and sakes have been very successful they hope to extend to other stands. They have introduced beer only bats to the ex bookies kiosks and pie corner near L1 this has seen increase in sales.
The 1884 bar was raised by myself as being a disgrace the place is just deteriorating and needs urgent attention. They said they were looking at making improvements and also the possibility of it becoming a members club .
They agreed to look at mobile bars outside the ground at half time where the smokers go and they also agreed to look at cashless queues.

Interesting, thanks lazzer :023:

Improved tenfold FFS !!

42 seconds FFS !!

Pies are selling well, of course, 'cos they're the only ones on offer. They are shite

Laughable and, I suspect, any opinions expressed to the contrary will be completely ignored.

Another pointless 'consultation' exercise

£200K on tills? Do me a favour.

The 1884 was once a reasonable place for pre match pint but has been left to deteriorate in to a dirty shit hole.

That’ll be the software rather than the tills I assume.
It stinks of management making decisions without seeing what’s actually happening. You can’t run human-to-human businesses purely on stats. You have to see what’s actually happening and I don’t believe that catering company do.

If they did they’d have vending machines for the easy stuff.

Absolutely agreed.

Good work! Carry on being our spokesperson

Take a flask of coffee and buy a couple of samosas on the way to the ground. No queues.

Coffee and samosas? Am I hearing right? Surely that flask needs to be brimful of mango lassi. Coffee and samosas.... Jesus.

On the subject of food: chocolate eclairs.

No I am not asking the club to sell them. I would point out that the turnstiles are very narrow. Those of us who have a penchant for chocolate eclairs find it difficult to get through them. There should be at least the occasional wider turnstile for those of a Pickwickian figure/

So it was you who ate all the pies.

Had the pie of the month yesterday, it had beef and bacon in it I think. Before anyone else says it, yes I know they are overpriced and I shouldn’t expect much of something that’s been sat in a warmer for an hour, but I’d had a beer and I was peckish. Jesus wept it was bad. Tasted of nothing, hotter than the sun on the inside and encased in luke warm plasterboard. Won’t be making that mistake again.
