sports presenter Natalie ? said she'd spoke to Mike Newell today. She indicated that he would be having a second round of talks with Leicester tomorrow. She states that MN feels that he can't attract any quality players to Luton and therefore although he very much likes the club he feels he can take them no further. He's very impressed with the training facilities at Leicester and as still got good connections with the club from his playing days. Sounds like our new manager to me.

Here we go........it is beginning to unfold and expect further news tomorrow. As I said all along this won't be rushed. Mike Newell is a stubborn character and it will go as he wishes so not to tarnish the reputation of this young manager. In my opinion the softly softly approach is good for him and LCFC but the fans have been through hell with all these other dodgy prospects like Holloway being thrown in the pot.

so no holloway then.

thats a pity.

NOT!!

I can imagine why it might be difficult to attract players to Luton, they are a small club, but I don't think he helped matters largely with all these bung allegations. I hope we get Newell as our manager but I'm obviously hoping that these allegations he made effect our own ability to attract players. Is anyone here concerned about Newell's credibility in the transfer market?

Could even work for us in reverse, if football decides it must publicly clean up its act.

Mind you, what are the chances of that? :102:

well... I wouldn't put my house on it

The circimstanstial evidence certainly seems strong and apart from the Holloway bollux the other names seem to have fallen away. I'll keep me powder dry until he signs on the dotted line though.

From a Luton site...

"The headline on back of todays Luton News is:

On his way?
Doubt over Newells Luton Town future as he holds second talks with Leicester City officals"

Expanding on that someone has posted what the paper apparently says:

"Claims:
Newell met with LCFC officials for the 2nd time yesterday after reserve game, he drove to LCFC.
He will be offered job.
He is 100% certain to take it though as he is worried they may get relegated.
Classic quote at the end!
" Newell is also understood to be frustrated at the lack of progress behind the scenes at the Hatters and at having not been offered a long term contract. Sources close to the club have suggested "something big" is close to happening that could change that situation "

Haven't been able to find the actual article online yet though.

He's a shrewd man is Newell IMO - wouldn't put it past him now waiting to see whether Luton Town have the weight he needs to stay.

Shrewd and crude IMO - he swears a lot apparantly.
