Well that puts to bed Vesty being anywhere near good enough for the Prem, as well as a few others.

Good effort in the second half. If we do get promoted, we have to invest and we have to change our style.

Decent effort particularly in the second half and I’m glad we made it interesting for a while, mostly due to Chelsea gifting us a ridiculous goal, but overall it wasn’t a good performance and it should have been all over at half time.

We were far too open because we set up the exact same way as we do in the Championship. The arrogance still astounds me.

Ah well, at least they made it kind of interesting.

Had a right good go and unfortunately the red card (brought about by our high line and our brain dead defending from senior players) undid us.

In terms of positives, Stolarzyk is a starting goalkeeper, Mavididi scored a wonderful goal, KDH was excellent, we had a really good go and we can now focus on the league.

I do have several grumbles though. Daka was absolutely crap and offered us nothing when we needed it. Faes, Choudhury and Vestergaard simply cannot play that system and Fatawu was a letdown.

Enzo made some mistakes too, most notably the high line.

On that viewing we will need at least two central defenders and a right back in the summer.

Still, good cup tie against a very talented if flawed Chelsea team. We move on.

Amazes me people think our squad is good enough for the Prem and it’s the manager that is costing us…
Yeah. We only scored two away at Chelsea and beat Bournemouth playing this way. Forest and Brentford would murder us...

Chelsea only two places above Bournemouth - who we beat - so there was a half chance anyway. We got back in to it for a while and put up a bit of a fight and weren't totally humiliated - but clearly, after the red card, there was no chance.

Chelsea are shit so if they had too much pace surely everbody else would have as
well ?
Well no, that’s not how it works.

Chelsea have invested heavily in fast, physical, young players. They are inconsistent but capable of excellence. Madueke, as a perfect example. Not many premier league clubs have lads like that sitting on their bench. They are clearly a work in progress and will no doubt improve.

Their pace against our first choice backline made for a very poor matchup for us. Worth remembering Bournemouth are also in the premier league.
