This is totally ridiculous - the club knew this was going to be a problem last week!! Why didn't they just put a few stewards on standby? Or at the very least make some kind of provisions for the fans so they could still watch the match!!

Leicester friendly cancelled

Cheltenham Town's pre-season friendly against Leicester City, scheduled for Tuesday 31 July at Whaddon Road, has been cancelled due to the water crisis.

Water supplies have been returning to some parts of Cheltenham today (Monday) but by late afternoon Whaddon Road had no water and Severn Trent were unable to guarantee a supply in time for the match.

Various other options were considered including playing the match on Wednesday or playing at an alternative venue such as Forest Green Rovers FC, who offered the use of their ground.

However, as Leicester are particularly keen to play the match on Tuesday a behind-closed-doors game will now take place at the Walker's Stadium. We regret that this match will not be open to the public.

The water supply problems now mean that the first match at Whaddon Road this summer will be the opening game of the 2007-2008 season, against Gillingham on Saturday 11 August at 3pm.

I've been to both but not seen City at either.

PLUS the ****-up of the wrong date being put on the OS for the Accrington game - that has cost me money as well.


AND no doubt soemthing will also happen to the S****horpe game - I've never seen City in a competitive fixture there.
