Chilwell or Fuchs next season?

I don't see Fuchs moving on just yet and if he doesn't he should be our first choice LB next season without question. Chilwell looks good going forward and will be a very good player if the upward curve continues but defensively he's so naive sometimes. He isn't the finished article by a long way and doesn't possess anything like the defensive quality that Fuchs does...... the post Ranieri Fuchs that is!

the only way he will get less naive is by playing and there seems to be a myth that Fuchs doesn't get skinned, he does, just as often as Chilwell, its simply the life of a full back that gets forward, I'm also yet to see Chilwell hack down a winger needlessly when already booked.

And not every mistake Chilwell makes leads to a goal either, that's another line I see about him all the time.

The final line in that is NOT what was said. Every game I've seen Chilwell play in, there has been one mistake made by him that has lead to a goal.

That isn't the same as saying "every mistake leads to a goal".

I was generalising but there is a myth that Chilwell is at fault for a goal every time he plays which is just completely untrue

I agree he needs games. It shouldn't be for us though until he has hined his craft and is at our level. He simply isn't at the moment. As for Fuchs, of course he gets beaten sometimes, all full backs do its just not as often Chilwell does when he plays. Pretty simple really.

He managed the opposite yesterday.

But yes - I think he has made mistakes that lead to goals previously, or has been subject to unlucky deflections. It's not a myth. With some research I could point you towards examples, but I'm not going to.

Other than you, I've never heard anyone even hint at such a thing

Not much of a myth, really

And yesterday in the first 15 minutes alone he motored back and covered mistakes 3 times by the centre backs that could easily have resulted in goals.

He should already be our permanent LB and I can see him, Gray, Kapustka and Amartey all hoping other teams come in for them over the summer.

I've seen it written on this board.

He reminds me of a young Ashley Cole. Great going forward, but a lot to learn defensively. Hopefully he'll continue to develop and work at that part of his game. In which case he can be very good.

Fuchs is miles ahead as a complete left back. He is actually very good going forward too IMO.
